Question Leaky Rear-end

My SE parts car that I'm stealing the suspension from, I've noticed has a leak in the rear-end. Its kind of off and on, for weeks it won't leak much, then all of a sudden I notice the pavment under it is wet with a new pool of gear oil... Has anyone had problems with a leaky differential, and what did you have to do to fix it?

check the bolts that hold the 3rd member in .... they vibrate loose causing the rear end to leak....just tighten the bolts , that should fix it..... if it still leaks you will have to pull the 3rd member, and re-silicone seal it...

That sounds simple enough. I'll give it a try, Thanks.

I had the same problem on my 85GS. would tighten the bolts down and then a week later it would be leaking again.... After a few times, I forgot to put gear oil in my rear end.... Locking up the rear wheels at 80Mph isnt fun....... Make sure you keep a close eye on the gear oil!!.
