Thumbs up Got the TR off

Well, I got the thermal reactor off. Took me a while, and I froze my *** off but it's done. For the top rear nut, I followed Wankelguy's lead and used a ground down 9/16 uv socket to snake it in. Somehow, luckily I got it on the nut right away, and loosened it with out having to use any leverage...I actually had a bigger problem with the other 3.
So, I got that off and wrestled with getting the header on. I didn't get a chance to connect it on the rear side, but I did start it. Lo and Behold, the son of a bitch started right up! (cold as hell) I looked under the hood, and it was glowing...that can't be good.
Anyway, I'm pretty stoked, even though I won't be driving it for a while. Any ideas about the glowing header? I read through the thread posted the other day, but I didn't get much out of it.
Thanx guys. Ben

I wondered if it might of been because it's not fully connected...either to a pre-silencer or heat exchanger to pipe to muffler? That doesn't make sense to me either though.

Thanx. Actually the day I dropped the oven, my neighbor brought the headpipe back to me, good as new. Go figure...
I'm gonna wait to get it on the road, until the weather breaks for the better. These months are just too unpredictable with the lake effect and all. Which is allright by me, gives me plenty of time for the small stuff.
Anyway, I'll do a search right now (didn't know it was running again) , but running rich is the most likely culprit, huh? Thanx for the input.

I was just going to say something about the search being down, and then clicked on it, and discovered that the search is back up

Oh, boy, after a quick browse thru the search, I guess I'm either running rich or lean. Or my dist. might be off...or I can just play w/ the air mix. screw...Dammit, I was hoping someone would say it was SUPPOSED to do that...lol
Fennix sr, it isn't all that bad, as long as you have the time and patience.

doesn't a glowing header mean a clogged cat?

Nope, though a clogged cat can cause one to glow too. I know my friend Joe's RB header glows on occasion, and it exits directly into a muffler , followed by a turndown and that is it. No cat, no connecting pipe, just header to muffler to turndown. I do wish he had put the turndown on sooner as he managed to melt his carpet.

Cliff Notes: No cat needed for Header to glow!
