Leaky Clutch

So I found out why my clutch was not working. It turns out I had no clutch fluid. So I go out thinking WTF, and buy some clutch/brake fluid.

I fill up the resevour and I notice it has been slowly decreasing. That toped it off, my car is leaking clutch fluid. The probllem is I have no idea whare it is leaking.

Has anywone had simaler problems? If so, or if not so, does nayone have any ideas on whare I should look??

just went through the same ordeal..check the hose that runs from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder, which is located just behind your oil filter..it is most likely your slave cylinder that is leaking as it is with mine..I can fill mine up daily and watch it leak from the slave cylinder..so pumping up my clutch is a daily routine til I get it all replaced...I have all the parts now...just not the time yet

after checking the hoses, squirrel your hand down to the tranny and squeeze the rubber boot on the end of the slave cylinder. if it goes "skoosh" and jizzes brake fluid on your hand, its the slave cyl..
then get under the dash and do the same for the master boot... same symptons, same disease. usually easy to rebuild if the cylinder bore (not something you read everyday on a rotary message board) isnt pitted from rust.

im going to tell you from experince, dont screw around with rebuilding them. if you want it fixed for ever just go to victoria british and buy a new one. i rebuilt both mine from the start, cost like ten bucks at a autoparts store and it still leaked down not as fast but it still did. i bet its the master or slave cylinder not the hoses. i would have pedal for a mintue then all of a sudden the pedal was dead. i replaced the master and slave and now its got more pedal then anything i have ever driven. good luck with it.

one day my clutch pedal had no resistance. i took apart the metal hose, rubber (black) hose, slave and master cylinder. i pumped the slave and everything was good. i blew through the hoses.. watch out for the taste of rust in your mouth.. hoses turned out good. cmc was a little rusted on the inside.. so i crawled under the dash and saw a dried trail of fluid down the inner firewall. my verdict was that the cmc was broken because of an inner seal was probable cracked and i bought a new one through vb. now my clutch feels like new!

if it is the cmc.. installing it is gonna be a bitch if you do not have the proper tools. taking it out is easy bit screwing the two bolts tightly with literally no space for you hand and tool to go while laying down on the floorpan turning less than a quater turn on the screw x2.. goodluck

The parts are actually pretty cheap and easy to install. You can find rebuilt, warrantied slave and master cylinders at Checkers or Auto Zone etc. for a good price. Good luck. Its easier than it looks
