Leaking steering box

Hi all, like the title says I've got a leaking steering box (from the bottom oil seal near where the Pitman arm attaches). Do you guys know if anyone sells the seal kit, I tried the local parts stores and no luck and the Mazda dealerships said they'd have to order them from Japan (2-3 weeks minimum). Also is there any product I can use to swell the seal and prevent it from leaking or am I SOL?

no love for you Luis as to a fix, but I am pleasantly AMAZED you can even get OEM gaskets! no matter what fix you come up with, I strongly suggest you order those seals!

Thanks for the reply Stu,
I may not be able to get the seals the guy at the parts counter said the part # doesn't show up on his database as discontinued so there's a chance there's still available. What I think I'm going to do is measure the od and id of the seal and see if I can get one from a bearing shop as well as order the seal from Mazda. Unfortunately I won't be able to get to the car for a couple of weeks so if anyone knows the seal dimensions they would be greatly appreciated

Luis

usually the seals go when the bearings wear and you're better off with a good used box (tough job though). I had the same issue, I bought a bottle of lucas oil engine oil additive 9very thick and slippery) and filled my box up with it. This bought me a year++ until my motor blew up which made it easy to swap the box. IMPORTANT NOTE , the box includes the entire steering column as a unit, so it isn't cake to swap with the engine in there, but it is possible.
