latest turbo swap progress

Still a long way to go but it's getting there.

Ducting for cold air intake...

...leading to a big K&N where the headlight washer bottle would normally sit.

Fuel system consisting of custom made surge tank and 500hp Bosch motorsport pump. Still need to install the Carter filler pump and wire it all up.

Intercooler piping almost done. Just need to hit it again with the Autosol. I also had to modify the radiator shroud as the fan was just touching it. I'll be putting an electric fan in a little later down the track but this will work well for now.

It's before the main fuel pump so it's not under pressure. I'll be running another low pressure filter before the filler pump as well as a proper efi filter before the injectors.

I posted the specs in the other thread I think. It's a large extended port, dowelled, 3mm seals, clearanced rotors, 3 window bearings etc. All the good stuff.

I'd rather not think about it.

Is anyone else worried about him hitting a puddle? That air filter looks like it's gonna turn into a wet/dry vac.

what's scary is this actually happened to my friends TII. most of the water was caught in the intercooler at the bottom. not much actually got in the motor (everything was fine actually) but the AFM got destroyed and we didn't know it till too late. it caused the ecu to run the motor lean and it blew. we just thought the wideband sensor went bad

Yeah, the location of that air filter just doesn't look right. It's pointed straight down directly in front of the tire. Me no likey.

he's not running an afm tho, most likely stand alone and the i/c will catch the big water (if the problem even happens) and only mist will go in the motor which will actually act like water injection

Thanks for the input. I'll probably move it up so it's not as low. Plus I was thinking about putting something in to shield it from the tire. I'm not planning on driving it in the rain anyway so it should be ok.

exactly, i can't even drive mine in the rain. once boost even thinks of coming on the tires just spin. it's awesome, but sad hahaha! a shield could help, but most likely wont. you hit a puddle it's going everywhere. run a bypass thingie (can't remember correct name) that will keep the water from getting all the way up to the turbo.

Yeah AEM sells a bypass that will keep water from getting sucked up into the intake. Once the bypass see vacumn, It opens up it's air vanes and prevents suction. Kinda like having a whole in your straw and trying to suck your soda out of the cup, doesn't work very well.

Your project is looking really great, as I would expect from you. Missed the original thread as I was over in Laos but managed to find it with the magical search button. The specifications you selected should result in a great car.

Thanks for the advice on the 12AT dizzy.
