I too am interested as to how exactly a carb on a TII setup with no I/C and stock everything else. Not being cynical as I know there are a lot of engines that respond more than well to what would often be seen as backwards mods, but just wondering.

And what was the cost like? What would just the TII into an FB/SA be like?

Me too We got lucky on that deal.

I do like that carb setup though. It looks nice and clean.

well the stock turbo 2 makes 150 flywheel h/p in stock trim.....(i think)

i have dyno tested the most basic blow-thru system i sell

(stock motor, stock turbo, non intercooled small45 weber) and it mabe 230RWHP, @ 10PSI wich roughly translates to approx....260 to 270 flywheel hp...
not bad for a low budget turbo setup!!!

The carb set up does look nice and clean, but must not be too friendly on gas milage. Don't get me wrong, If I had a normally carbed 13b, I might consider a blow through system (depending on cost, how much is it?) but not when you already got all of the fuel injection manifold and injector holes and just need a better ecu.

I believe the series 4 (86-88) turbo motor was 180hp stock and the series 5 (89-91) 200hp.

Yeah, too bad the US dollar has weakened soo much to the Australian dollar. I think the LTX these days will run you around 1,000 US dollars. Hopefully the US dollar will regain it's power to the Aussie dollar, I sure would like to buy a Guru rear diff and lots of other stuff

the cost of this type of setup varies alot, depending on what size carb you get, turbo size, if its intercooled or not, what type of ignition you use, what exhaust you use, etc., etc., ......

a low budget turbo setup starts at $2,500 and goes up....... but thats more of a ballpark estimate.....

Damn Robert, must be nice to be able to build a nice car like that, but I guess when you steal customers money its easy, huh?! Please don't respond with more of your bullshit either. Anyone who thinks of doing business with Rotary Shack.........one word for ya, DON'T!!

I love Trans Am rims... Are those 4 lug or 5?

If they are 5, is there any way to convert from 4 lug to 5 on my 83 gsl?

Whatever, dude... Had problems with getting stuff sent from him a while back, but he had just gone on his honeymoon and everything. He hooked up IoTus's car big time!!! He then hooked up Gregs who is another one of my friends.

To anyone thinking about buying something from Robert, he's a nice guy, and if you give him some time, you'll end up with a really nice setup. He'll talk you through setting up your stuff on the phone and he'll even troubleshoot over the phone if you're having a problem!!! He advertises that he's always late, so don't expect fast service. He builds his own stuff, so it takes a while.

You know what, all I can do is see what my friends have gotten from him and I have seen good stuff come out of his shop so far. (had shipping problems, but..)

There are far, far more people with good experiences with Rotary Shack than bad, so... Judge for yourself.

BTW: And don't make the mistake I did of yelling at him cause it's taking a while. He can get upset if he's feeling like he's being insulted. He'll get the stuff to ya.. eventually!!

Robert has hooked me up many times. He sold me everything I needed to turbo my 12a. Then when I fucked up some part on the carb he overnighted the part so I could get my car running. Now he's giving me a great deal on engine seals, rotor housings, and a weber 48dco-sp. He usually does take a bit of time to ship things, but you'll always get a quality part at a great price. I'll always do business with Robert, he's a great guy.

That sounds like a REAL sweet setup Robert.

What rpm does peak torque and peak horsepower hit?

When's the power start to come on? MPG? Could I see a dynochart, the REPU is thinking blow-thru turbo on her Dellorto 48DHLA.

I too am backing up robert. You dont know what the **** your talking about ernie. Robert hooked me up with my carb setup, and had it out the door in a week.

I cant even begin to go into the quality work he does either. I will continue to do buisness with him once I start building my drag car later this year. He knows his ****, and is a great guy.

Looks like you got yourself nicely out numbered here mr allmighty ******* super moderator. Go **** YOURSELF.

Anyone want to consider another turbo budget setup?

Think this...bone stock DSM with a bolt-on ball bearing turbo for $1300. That's right a 100% bolt-on...same manifold, down pipe, coolant and oil lines...Full boost @2200-2500 rpm, possible up to 22psi at those rpm.

And the best part is you don't have to get 10mpg like you would with a carb and have to worry about atmospheric pressures changing.

Just trying to bring a little color to the rotary world.

are you doing anything for timing management? (like is there anything special about the distrib, or are you just cranking down the timing to avoid knocking?)

Also, any good links on what needs to get pressurized with that carb hat?
