latest ROTARYSHACK 12a t blow through
latest ROTARYSHACK 12a t blow through
here is the latest 12a turbo project
j-spec 12a turbo motor
45 weber dcoe
rotaryshack carb bonnet and turbo pipe
lightened flywheel, rotaryshack race clutch
85 GSL disk rear end and driveshaft
msd 6a and msd ignition wires, b10ev NGK's
rotaryshack 1 piece intake
this setup has absolutly no turbo lag!! full boost by 1,500 rpm's!!!! the boost is set @ 10 psi with no problems, except for tire spin.... the long intake really increaces low rpm torque and with the lightened flywheel it accelerates lightening fast!! no problems with detonation as the hot turbo air is cooled by the atimized fuel /air mixture as it goes through the carb,, even after several hard passes the intake manifold is still realitivly cold, v/s the hot turbo pipe. still there would be power gains from adding a i/c, but the customer was on a budget..... blow through turbo..... definatly the most bang for the buck!!

Looks good, although I thought MSD wires were red? Or are they like Accel and you can get them in many colors? What about the distributor? Is it locked? How does it handle boost retard? What about the fuel system? Pump? Boost referenced regulator? Is that an SA? It looks like it with the 3 core rad, the overflow tank, and the lack of the water/oil cooler...

they are MSD wires, i assembled them from a universal kit
the distributor is stock , no boost retard and no problems with detonation......
the fuel pump is a MSD EFI pump with a mallory #4309 regulator
the car is a 1980 rx7(you can see the igniter box on the driver strut tower, only on 1980 models)
the radiator is stock, but it's new with 16" electric fan installed
the car has the big oil cooler that came factory
and yes the a/c is working great now, installed the belt

yes the weber carb is modified for turbo..... it's been fully sealed(to prevent gas seapage) the acc. pumps are modified, different idle jets, the carb top is modified to flow more fuel, bigger needle valve, the choke has been removed and blocked and the studs where the velocity stacks mount have been removed and re-tapped for the turbo hat

looks nice.....
do you have a pic of a IC weber setup?
"the most bang for the buck......."
how much did he end up spending in parts on its own and how much for the labor

depends on exactly what parts you want or what your budget is .... p/m me so i can get some info from you...
Ive looked at your site a few times and ive liked what ive seen. Although i have a question. Im a boost novice so excuse me if this is a stupid question but, wouldnt the intake flow better if the bonnet wasnt just a square box? or is it concaved on the inside?

when we first started doing blow through systems we tried different shapes... round, square , concaved, small big, putting the inlet in different spots, etc. there was no noticable difference between any of them... the square one turned out to be the strongest and the most cost affective...
thanks on the website
Hmmm.... i suppose under that much pressure it wouldnt really make that much diffrence since the air HAS to go somewhere. But it does look strange compaired the the stock 12at bonnet.
Indeed, how much did that setup cost?
Im doing a blow-thru this winter on my GXL with the guys from CP Racing (I believe you talked to them earlier today
) so Im just curious as to how much its gonna end up runnin me

i have this exact setup except with the rb sp exhaust. What would i need for conversion?
If you were to open my hood this is what you would see, a carbon copy of this motor.

the weber is included in the package.....but if you have your own it can be used as well.... e-mail me for details
mazdaspeedrex......yes you can use mikuni carbs for blow through, with no problems.... i just need the carb so i can turbo prep it and to make a custom hat... let me know!!! i would be glad to help
pillage6...... i could modify your hat and save you some $$$$$... p/m me for details
revhed ...... yes i have used IDA's for blow through...the worst part is the float design, it's brass wich crushes under boost... the only remidy is to drill a small hole into the float and fill it with expanding foam , then soldier the hole shut.....it floods a-little easier with the added weight but the float won't crush.... the rest of the turbo-prepping is the same as other carbs!!
