DId you guys see this? It has plates, which means he got it registered, so you can legally drive it. I'm not sure how much of a pain in the *** regestering a RHD SA is, but I can imagine it cant be easy.

They probably made it RHD. Registrating an imported car is a pain the *** but a lot of people are doing it too. On the latest SCC there's this guy who had an imported DC5R (Acura RSX here but the Integra Type-R in Japan) and they didn't want to give the details about how he got it registered. Also, on Import Tuner I think... there's this guy with an Acura Integra XSi, another imported car that they didn't give details on the registration. So...it's possible, but then again they probably did the rhd swap on the SA themselves.

Actually, I'm 99% sure it IS a Japanese car. Besides the obvious PITA of converting the car to RHD, and the fact, that I'm not sure that would actually be legal, there is the fact that it' has a back seat, and the series one RX-7's couldn't in North America, due to an extra bracing member that was required...

There's quite a few Japanese SA's in North America.

Heck, one of the entrants in the GRM $1500 Challenge found one at the Salvation Army and bought it for $500!

The importation laws used to be much more relaxed. The grey market used to be a booming business!

gotta love the re amemiya front end, droooool, I want one. As peejay said, you used to be able to get a car here legally with relative ease. This car has probably been here for years, and thats why it didn't get cut in half when it entered the country.

Man, what a beater. Sure its neat that its RHD, but for ten grand it had better have a 13B-RE swap and be gold plated. Props to the body kit too, but still
