Question Keep your 1st or get RX8?

i drove a friends rx8 today and it was pretty damn tight, but it felt weird driving a silent rotary engine. Couldnt really hear the motor at all, it was quick but eh, i raced my friend in it and i still beat it in my 1st gen, but on the highway at like 80 mph start i got killed. I still would rather drive my 85 around than the rx8 im hooked. I like being loud whiney and light, i like the no power stearing feel of the 1st and the way i have to go 10 mph in the ran or ill slide out. If i ever become a very rich person, ill for mazada to build me a 100% perfect copy of the 85 rex. **** zoom zoom, wanng wanng bitches. Im just a rotary addict!

Vote what u like best

Sorry peeps, but even though I love my fb RX-7, if I had the chance, and the money, I'd still get an RX-8. The style isn't as good, but it's new.

After all driving 19 + old cars does have it's dissadvantages, rust, old parts falling off. Sometimes it's just better to take the easier way out.

But just think of the power you could pry from that engine if you Turbocharge it, or better yet, Supercharge it. That thing could outfly anything.

I'm love with my FB. Seriously. I don't think I would give my car up for anything. The car just has way too much sentimental value.

I mean, I've riden in an RX-8, and it was okay, but I'd much prefer a cruise in my FB, whether it is faster or slower than an RX-8.

Plus, compare the ratio of how many RX-8s you see comparped to how many first gens you see. Around me it is, like, 2:0.5. Heh. I like being unique because I am a unique individual. :P

Hate to diss the latest Rev of the Rex, but the 8 is butt ugly... I hate the bumps around the wheels.

I had the money set aside, and was thinking I was going to buy an 8 the minute it came out, but then I saw the thing; no matter how much I like the rotary, I can't get past the "fugly" of the rx-8...

Odd comparison

This is an odd comparison since they are different types of cars. Apple and orange, station wagon and limousine, drag racer and formula 1, etc. It is like asking if a new rotary pickup were for sale would you keep your RX-7 or get the pickup? Answer is keep both. A better question to ask if you get a 2005 RX-7 (if it comes) or keep the 1st. Again in every case keep both.

i don't think it can compare, why not use a 2nd gen instead of 1st gen? in SF, the 1st gen is a ghetto car, very ghetto. you'll see it only in some poor/bad neighborhood. 2nd gen is rice, you'll see mostly young asian in a 2nd gen doing stupid ****. example is chasing some honda/acura on 19th ave..... then the 3rd gen are some rare creature you won't see all the time, when it pass, people will turn heads, car will slow down for them, very respectful. RX8? people always think that the RX8 are slow, especially those integra and celica, will end up smoked because no matter how slow they are, they still faster than those dump *** 4cylr piston piece of ****. i think we RXs are same kind and don't need to compare.

You have got to be joking....I see too many here in the Metroplex...always red it seems.....

As far as the poll, nope, gonna want to stay with the rex...the RX-8 is nice, but simply not something I'm going to spend $28000+ on if I can pour it into my other cars, instead.

I'd buy a smashed up 8 in order to take its engine and swap it into one of my FB's, I love the renesis but I don't like the 8's body. The front end is nice, but from the door back looks awkward as hell to me. Overall I think it could have been done much better.

I got to see an 8 doing donuts, and I'd have to agree that the back end looks a little funny. I bet the 4th gen 7 (if there will be one) ought to look better back there. It'll be a two door, so it most likely will.

As for the poll, I'd prefer to get both since I currently have neither.

Just keep both. I mean, most SA/FB's are well under 1/10th the cost of a new RX8. Just doesn't really make sense to sell it.

Other than saving money on insurance, what would be the point in getting rid of the 1st gen? It's not like you'd get a nice trade in value for it, at least nowhere near what it's worth.

All you are talking about a fourth gen 7. Where did this info come from? But my real question is what would you think the styling cues will be on it? Who knows that they wont mess it up like the 8. I’m hoping not though it might happen.

As for the poll if some one would trade me my 7 straight for an 8 at no other cost to me, I would do it, but I don't think that I would TRADE in my 7 for an 8 and have to pay the difference.

I would buy a RX-8 in a HEARTBEAT if I had the cash, but I'd probably still keep the old Seven. There's nothing like the old 1st gens and I hope to never have to get rid of it.
