Keep the car in mint oem condition. Treat it with respect and care. If you can't do that, then sell it to someone who will and buy a Z to tear up.

Sorry, yes I said I was new to the RX7. I was a 240Z buff till now. Some one called it a FG when I first got it (as in First Generation) and I ran with it. Sorry

Very nice example of a very rare car. There were only 8,000 (if I recall correctly) 1980 10th ann editions sold. The exact number of each bodystyle is not known, as the total number includes the RX7, GLC and 626. It's a safe bet that only around 3000 RX7's got the special color and badging, and this appears to be a very well kept item. I'd advise keeping it in the same kind of shape, as it just might be worth a decent amount of money at some point.

You have a very rare and pristine 1st gen. If you can't keep it in it's oem condition, sell it to someone who will and find another one to play with from the profit you make off of this one..

keep that thing stock and you will see the resale value rise instead of fall if you mod it

yes, keep it stock.

I came across a 79 a few months back that is also all stock and had 71k on it from the original owner. I picked it up and have been driving it as a daily for a few months now. I want to completely restore mine and keep it all stock other than the motor and suspension as I can always swap back to the stock motor if I want to.

Yeah, my buddy difinitively came around thanks to you guys. Unfortunately, it also probably means I'll NEVER own the car, as I would've otherwise offered to buy it if he did decid to sell it or mod it. But that's ok with me I guess.

Nice to see a forum where it isn't full of ricers saying "duur, I'd put a blown 13b in it and drift downtown with a JDM front clip and LSD." There are some cars you do that to, others you don't.

You can put me on that list of friends, providing you keep it stock and have some respect for what you have. If not, as some of the other forum members know, I can be a hard *** and frequently give out a strong dose of reality checks to the new members. It's all good though, I'm quite passionate about our 1st gens and quite opinionated also. Some members can deal with it, others have a problem.

Now that's what I'm talking about, take exceptional care of that beauty. Fwiw, avoid using Armor-all on the interior. There are better products on the market that won't harden the plastics like the Armor-all will.

Wow. I've never cared for SA's...and I've got to say that is the most mint, clean 1st gen I've seen in original condition. If you try modifying that car, you'll probably have quite a few people lined up to physically save that 7 from you. Otherwise, enjoy!

LOL...funny how everyone thinks the covers are ugly. The original owner had those in there. And it did come with the glass top still in the original box, just afraid the sun will enter the interior easily.

btw, I'm gonna try and get her to "showroom" quality. Got hooked up with Mazdatrix here in SoCal for the mechanical. Also got hooked up with a former Chip Foose mechanic. Interior is pretty much already there, just need to fix the cassette player and minor scratches on the rear interior. But we'll see...

Naa- you have a cover, which will go a L-o-o-o-o-o-ng way in keeping the paint from fading IF you use it religiously (and clean it regularly: the cover AND the car )
My 80 is Red too and its _original_ paint is amazingly fade-free only because the original owner kept it under cover when not in use. Besides, the glass top is tinted so it will minimize any fade issues, so not to worry...
