82 Rx7 Issue
Howdy howdy folk.
Just a quick question or two. This winter we just finished putting heating into our garage, so I finally have time to work on an RX7 I picked up this summer. It has only 150Ks on it, the engine runs nicely.. However, The clutch pedal is a complete spounge. I depress it, and I dont even feel a thing move. Its like its not even connected.
Im not sure where to go from there, I picked up a haynes manual for it, however I couldnt find anyhting besides bleeding the clutch. Under inspection, I noticed there was fluid that leaked pretty badly when I depressed the clutch pedal. Its hard to describe the leak, since I fdont have a digital camera available. It comes out just behind the engine, somewhere near the middle of it around what looks like a hose.
Could a leak that that be causing the clutch to become a complete spongue? I appologize for asking such a basic question, However its my first project car ever and my father wants me to research it a bit before we go and work on it.
I thank you for your time!

Yeppers, leaks mean no clutch. While you are at it, replace the clutch master, slave and hose. I prefer the SS hose as it can firm the pedal a little, but 7s have a light pedal to begin with. Make sure you use brake cleaner to get rid of all of the leaking brake fluid, it eats paint and that's where the rust starts.
In my sig line is a link to the online FSMs and a few other books.

Cheapest source for replacement parts that I've found is www.rockauto.com
Your leak sounds like it's coming from the slave cylinder, but if you can afford to do it then go ahead and replace the hose and master cylinder while you're at it...
