Cool just a general question

ok, i did the search on here and yahoo, i found out the info i was looking for already.
My friend and i came across a Gold w/ Gold rims (honey comb) 1980, leather interior 1st gen. i read in Victoria British about the factory releases, it said something like Leather Edition, with power mirrors, gold alloy rims, yada yada.
the main deal was it has the Toyo Kogyo stamped everywhere.

the main question is..... How many of these are on the road running or being worked on and owned by forum members? forgot to take pics but will today after work.

1980 Ls

Not really sure if you just want to know about the cars with the Toyo Kogyo or ANY 1980 Leather Sports. I have a 1980 LS with the gold rims, gold paint, brown interior. My dad was the original owner and the leather was replaced when it got too worn. It is mine now and runs great, interior needs help though.

Hey Stu,

That car has been listed on ebay before, and it is semi local to me.If you guys want I will go by,and take some better pics of the normal problem areas.I wish I had the extra cash lying around as well.I will get ahold of the guy,and take a road trip to check it out,if for no other reason than to look at another cool car.

That car is clean!

That car is mine (w/o louvers) only fifteen years ago! (actually, I never saw mine THAT clean) If only I could live in it after the divorce, I'd buy it today!

I just bought one on e-bay 2 days ago. I go pick it up tomorrow. I was wondering if you guys think I got a good deal. It runs perfect and the interior is very nice. All it needs is breaks. I paid $800.00 Canadian for it. It has back seats, which he sayed is rare. I don't know anything about these cars, but hope to learn. I was into Fiero's (please nobody laugh) and restored one from the ground up. It's mint now and I need a new project. I have always liked the RX7 since I was a kid and originally that is what I wanted to fix up, but I got the Fiero for free. Don't mean to steal the thread, but I believe it is like the other cars above. Oh ya, it's a 1980.

Welcome to the club.Your car looks very nice especially for the price. It looks to be very clean, but that shift boot looks out of place.I think the 79,and 80 models are the coolest.Good luck, and give us more pictures.

Thanks for the reply! Is the shift boot not stock this way? I got the car for a good price but there is rusting over the wheel wells and a little under the door frames. The under side is perfect though. It isn't noticable by the pictures, but it's kind of bad. I am good at body work so this shouldn't be a problem, that's why I got it so cheap. I guess the rust scared everyone else off. I am going to weld in new sheet metal. I plan on making this car mint and am going to keep it indefinetely, so I want it done right. Just one other question, is the leather seats and the back seats as an option not common or are they most like this? Thanks in advance!

Hey guys,

I just got back from looking at the 80 LS that Stu linked on ebay, and it is a really nice car.I would vouch for this car as being represented well.It does have a few areas of rust bubbling under the paint, but nothing major. It fired right up,and ran good, but has some sort of exhaust leak that will have to be dealt with in the future or now.The car is a rare Leather sport which even the seller didn't realize it was a rare car,and I have spoken with him about maybe cancelling the auction, and placing it on this site so it can be sold to an enthusiast(sp?). If I were in the market for another SA I would buy this one,as it is really clean, and is rare.If you want I will either attach some detailed pics of it on here,or host them on my website for you guys to look at.I know it is last minute, but he may be ending the auction, and listing it here instead.Let me know if you are interested.
