Just brought her back from being sprayed ...
Well, after 1.5 years and going 2.5 times my budget, I finally have her 'finished' - yeah, right, we know its never finished. (Actually, I still have to refinish the rims, get her tinted, rip the **** rug off the bottom of the door panel and replace that, but after that ...?
)
I've replaced the entire brake system, clutch system, drive shaft, exhaust to RB w/ headers, upgraded the ignition, brought the A/C back to life, short shifter, Momo steering wheel and countless other little things. She now drives like a champ (getting 22 mpg), and she finally looks purty too!
I decided to leave the badges off - cleaner look, plus if they don't know what it is, eff 'em!

really nice looking 7!! what shade of blue is that and what type of paint was used to paint the car? i dont know about removing the carpet from the doors..i think that its a nice touch...
It's Nason (DuPont), and the color is Blue Regatta Pearl. It came out quite a bit darker than the chip showed ... I was worried at first but love the way it turned out.
As for the carpet, at the very least I need to dye it black ... the 23 yr 'gray' just doesn't look right.

Same thing happened to me and my car when painted.
I picked a Range Rover orange and it turned out darker than I hoped. After all the comments about how "period correct" and "sets off the lines" I started to like it, haha.
Looks nice! Good luck with the rest of the project!

My intention was to be 90% "period correct" with an update to metallic/pearl look. But the darker blue sort of pulled it away from that ... but that's fine, it's my car and I like the look.
Your car looks fantastic - I love the blue.
I see a lot of people painting over the black side moldings. I know the rubber is fairly hard but I'm curious to know if it stays looking nice for long periods of time.
Sorry for the hi-jack.

Looks great! I am thinking of using the same style front end when I get mine repainted too. from looking at your pics, did you do all the prep work yourself?
I hate to ask, but what was your total for the paint work? Im just trying to get an idea of how bad its going to hurt when I get mine done and I dont know of someone who has done it yet.

Sorry for the delay in responding ... I've just gone through a rebuild. At least she's on the road again.
The moldings were light sanded and then applied sealant. Time will tell if the paint starts flaking. I weighed the look of keeping them versus not, but in the end decided that i might just avoid some dents if i leave them on.
I did some of the prep work, but took it to a local shop so someone who has some real experience could do the job - $2500 for wet sand, prime, paint.

Nice!
Like the look of the painted moldings, esp with the fr spoiler.
$2500?? Jeez, I couldn't get my car PREPPED in Alaska for that price! Great deal unless it all blows off 1st time you take it to the car wash!
Another "new" RX7 on the street!
