Just bought my first RX7!
Well on Monday I go to pick up my new toy, its a 1980 RX7 not sure on the exact model. It has about 110k miles, its a 5 speed and completely stock. My friend test drove it and says it is immaculate. Now I gotta save up for a 13B-T or 13B-TT swap!
What do you guys think?

that car is an 81-83 Canada or U.K. spec car..... U.S. models were never available with the headlight washers on the front bumper. only Canada and Eurpoe got those. you also have the U.K. spec front fenders with the marker light in the side of the fender and the U.K. spec left and right mirrors. this car might have been imported. double check you VIN with the VIN on the title to the car....

In my opinion, this is the order in which things should be done:
1. Safety: brakes (replace the hoses at the calipers) and front end parts should be gone through very carefully, replacing anything that is worn.
2. Reliability: Battery cables, fuel filter and other tuneup items, new suspension bushings, clutch slave cylinder and hose possibly MC too.
3. Performance: if you are looking to stay close to stock, then new springs and shocks. If you don't care about staying stock, then these decisions will be based upon what you want to do with the car. If you are into high performance driving, or want to autocross, then check out coilovers and Illumina shocks @ www.re-speed.com Also, www.sterlingmetalworks.com makes a kickass carb based on a heavily modified stock (Nikki) carb at a very reasonable price.
4. Paint and finish: this should be done last, otherwise you'll just mess it all up while working on and modifying the car.
I'm sure there's a lot I've forgotten to mention in each category, but you should be able to get the general idea.

I'll give you $50 and my front turn signals for yours.
Other than that, Welcome to our world. RX-7's are wonderful cars, especially in the shape that is in. Although... There will be a time when you have to ask yourself what is more important, the car or your significant other

you would be surprised about texas cars, they rust pretty bad, or at least where i live in texas. It rains, the its sunny, then it storms, then its sunny, plus its SOOOO humid. There is always moisture in the air. My rx7 is from arizona though and it is truly not to rusty!!! Arizona cars are nice, and the dash is even still good because they used sun deflectors in it!!

New radiator, new fuel pump, new front shocks, new lowering springs front and back, new heavy duty front sway bar, new adjustable rear sway bar, re-upholstered front seats, new front tires, Also a recently serviced engine with new trans fluid, differential fluid, fresh paint job and detailed engine bay and suspension.
Im gonna have my mechanic check it out when it gets home to make sure anything thats worn and needs replacing does so.
