Like I say, the local radiator shop recharged my 85 AC with freon r12 for $170. Seems like a good deal to me.
People I know have tried recharging their cars with the $20 kit from Kragens and it didn't work.

I did the AutoZone 134 swap kit thing. 6 months later still cools well - or at least it will when I reconnect the A/C compressor
As for the lineage of the 82, it's sounding like an S or GS.
If by aftermarket sunroof you mean you don't have any sunroof at all, just the solid ceiling - then you'll have to pay some greenbacks to have it done custom.
Since you're in CA, gutting the emissions and going straight-through on the exhaust isn't going to happen. However, when your car turns what, 25, 30? you'll be able to free up a bunch of horses through those mods.

I'm not sure if it's an S or GS - it doesn't have power windows, etc., but does have AC, cruise, etc. But no damn sunroof
Will try the conversion kit on the AC - what do I have to lose? It's not like it works now.
Made an adjustment to the choke, let's hope it passes the smog test today - passed everything but at idle. I HATE CA emissions. Just think, in another 10 years I won't have to do this anymore, LOL.
Thanks, all, for the support & info.

I luv sheep&dead hookers
From what I was told, you have the GS. The A/C, cruise, etc are all options. The S was teh base car with no options. Sounds like you have the options but opted not to have the moon roof.
I'll definitely have to meet up with you some day. My car is the same breed. We wouldn't what the grandkids to be mongrul little mutts!

Yer killin me, Bob - If I get the guy that only hands out the stickers, who's gonna get & keep the car runnin like it should? Did ya think about that at all? Cuz I'm wanting to learn about all this stuff, but I'm not gonna delude myself into thinking I'm gonna become a master mechanic, ya know?
