Just another “what do these cords do” post

Hey everyone needing a little help, for some back story I got my self a 83 gsl as a project that wasn’t running and so far still in the process trying to get it runnng, changed out the fuel pump and filter got new spark plugs, still seem to not to get it going ( just best I can do is get some smoke out the tail pipe) i don’t know what these cables do and if they are stopping me from getting her started, they are located by the rad ( the car didn’t come with a rad but put a new one in)

the brown wire should go to a low coolant sensor on the top of the radiator. The blue/yellow should go to a temperature sensor on the lower part of the radiator

in fact... where did you find that radiator. Your hand is blocking where the low coolant sensor should be.

That low water level sensor is not cheap. Make sure you get the gasket also. The sensor is plastic so don't over tighten it.

I originally called it a low temp sensor. It is a low water level sensor.

Sweet thanks guys for the heads up!!! Not having these sensors would it be a culprit for her not to fire up? Or should it still be able to run with out them for the moment

I assume there is a plug where the sensors would go, since you are not mentioning coolant all over the driveway. As far as I know, there is nothing there that would prevent your car from running. There is something else going on... care to elaborate on what happens when you try to start the car? does it fire and die? does it run for a bit and just fade out? is there combustion at all?

Ya there is defiantly no coolant on the driveway lol, and for trying to start her all she does is turn over I’ll try to put some gas in the carb and it will seem like it’s trying to catch but never does, most I get is a little smoke come out the tail pipe.

I just changed out the fuel pump thinking that was part of the problem, but I found yesterday I have a faulty ignition control module so I ordered one hopefully after i get that she will run lol

Those sensors shouldn't affect starting the car.

Try pulling the plugs, following a deflood procedure, replacing them with the right ones, fresh gas, see if you get anything - best of luck!
