Talking junkyard score

my dad got me out of bed at 11 yesterday to go to junkyards. i wasnt too excited about it because it was early for me, but i went anyway. we were at our second junkyard looking for a rear bumper, spoiler, and s5 tails for his second gen (dump truck nailed his car when dropping off some gravel... long story). anyways, i come across a brown first gen. as i get close, i notice it had rear disks (rare to see a gsl in junkyards around here) i get excited thinking i just got me a gsl rear end. i get close, and notice it has a 13b in it . 180k miles on it, but the rear locks just fine. so we pulled it. some rain held us up but we managed. when i got to the parts counter, it was only $86 including core charges. then the manager came out and started adding **** to it... eventually it came out to 140 with my dad's military discount. still, it was a good deal. plus they already have the stud conversion done to them

now to my question, we didnt take the drag bars off. its going into an 85gs with a gsl rear end. i have the e-brake cables already, but are the drag links the same? i assume they are but i want to check.

Well it sounds like an -SE. Are you sure it's a GSL with a 13b ?? If not your going to need the wheels that came off the car too because it's an -SE, different lug pattern.
What you call 'drag' bars, are different on the -SE's, well
they mount 20mm lower then the other models. and the u-joint flange is different also , depending on the year
you already own. what extra's did the yard charge you for ?

yea, it was definately a se. the rear brakes are vented, and the motor was a first gen 13b, and it defiantely looked like nothing had been touched in a good while. i know about the different bolt pattern, thats mainly why i wanted them. whats different about the u-joint flange? would it be a good idea to go back and get the bars?

the junkyard only charged for 2 rotors, calipers, the rear end as one peice, spindles, and somethign else, then the manager threw everything else that was there. he wanted use to take off the shocks and springs if we didnt want them, but wouldnt supply a spring compressor, he was being a dick, i told him if he wanted them off that bad, be my guest to take them off without a compressor. all in all it was a good deal.

Please Tell me you got the front struts also. Five bolts If not go back there and get them now. There are only so many -SE left. Also grab the distributer(sp?) and injectors.

the driveshaft flange should be the same if you're putting it in a 85gs. now you need the front struts and spindles and some wheels
