Junk Yard Engine...

Ok guys... This engine is from a junkyard locally here in atlanta... The engine has been painted. Spun the engine over on the starter...generated 60PSI of oil pressure.... 130PSI compression.... Do I dare put her in the car and see if it runs??? Thoughts.... Questions... Concerns?? You never know what is wrong with a car in the junk yard... rear-end was gone from the car.. Tranny seems fine... I dont know...

Kinda funny... Reminds me when I won my first race on a junk yard engine! Ohhh man those guys were pissed! lol! What are yall's thoughts?!!

Seems good. Just make sure all the fluids are nice and fresh, maybe some new plugs too and some fresh gasoline through it. Then I'd say fire her up!!

Toss that puppy in. Unless it's making weird noises it should be good to go. Any idea on mileage? Worst case is you're out a couple hours putting it in and pulling it.

You know... Amsoil was good about replacing that engine... I will say...props to them. They looked at the engine- bearings.... And they compenstated me for the engine. I just dont know if I would go through it again...

Ya-aussiesmg I'm laughen!! Ill be laughen even more when I have you come down and help me pull it out ....because I decided to give Amsoil a try again!!

Anyway...The engine is on the stand... Gonna pull the pan and make sure there isn't anything funky in there...then she is going in this weekend!
Thanks for the moral support! And HUMOR!!

hell if it has good compression throw it in..not like your spendin a pile of money on the "powerplant"..if it isn't good..sell the engine in parts..and make your money back..besides these cars make you work on them so you can drive them,so you would be making it a learning experience..sort of finding out what your car is really like..where what is,what goes where..and all that sort of BS!..just get it..good deal!

i agree completely. if the compression and oil pressure are good then stuff that biatch in there and fire it up. you will soon know if there are any problems with it.
