JIMMY54..... Sad to Say the RX7 is Gone

On October 27 2005, the rx7 lost it's battle with rust..... On the outside the car was amazing but in the rear the supports for the rear end/rear bin rust gave out.

The area had been repaired twice but there was just no place to weld.... the entire mount for the differential tore off the car.

With major work the car could probably recover but there is just too much.... the body would probably need a acid dip to get all the rust properly removed.

The car is now stored waiting to get stripped, a new rx7 will be built with the same color should be completed for summer 2007.

Not sure if it will still be a 6-port or will become a 4 port t2.....?

Time will tell.....

Sorry to hear about the rust winning the battle with such a beauty.

By the way sorry for the lost man. Good luck on the next project.

Thanks guys for the kind words.... me and my bro are still in shock that the car is gone... it is like a "end of a era" in our life!

The charger is a 68 with a 440 ci.... blah it's a monster in size. The rx7 is way more fun.

There is a 1990 mustang which can also be seen on my avaitar, that was the mustang that gave me the idea for the RX7/5.0 rear bumper.

Yeah all my parts are solid, even body panels....

My brother took some pictures off the damage on his cell phone, which I'll post up tomorrow or the day after.

Basically it tore a huge hole on the floor there is nothing between the frame rail and the exterior panel in front of the rear passenger side tire. It was the lower rear control arm. This problem was started from the bin rust many of us suffer from. My was just a very severe condition.

The second rx7 (t2 swap) is up and running, but it is parked beside it in storage.

Here is a pic of it for the guys that haven't seen it..

But anyhow I am getting to work on my new Shell, totally sandblasted underneath so I never have to go through this again....

Thank you all for the kind words...

A truly sad day

I know how you feel, I lost mine a couple years ago to rust. I've still got all the parts just waiting to transplant them......

That's right max I remember now that you've gone through this before.... I totally forgot about the rust, I remembered only that you got hit while parked on the street.

Damn my car has rust just like yours

Max a quick question on your black car the front fender had the flare removed or am I seeing things?

Funny both out cars looked like they were spotless outside when they got eaten inside out with rust.

Good ones die young!

Your eyes are correct. I removed all of the front lip and half of the rear to clear my 225/50/15's I had on 15x8 rims used for the track.
yah, rust really sucks. You just have to find that point where you throw in the towel and search for a new donor......
And your blue one is even nicer than my old black one, a real bummer.
The only good parts is the chance to build one a little bit or a whole lot different than what you had before.

Holy crap! Two of my RX-7s in one thread, and I didn't even post 'em.

That white SA in the junkyard pic was what was left of White Trash.

That silver FB behind Max7's old -SE is my current 1st-gen. Before the rust demons made their presence known.
