DAM, Check out these parts available for the FB in Japan! I'll let the pictures do the talking. If you click on suspension, you will get 3 pages of pics.

You can get that stuff here from RE-Speed. Not quite the same as those are full coilovers in the front whereas RE-Speed's are just coilover sleeves that go on the stock shock body. Pretty much the same thing though. The rear dampers with external reservoir are pretty neat though, I doubt you can get anything like for our cars here.

the stuff looks nice. I like the complete strut replacement. but the damper are only single adjustment, you can get single adjustment dampers here from Koni, Tokico. they have dampers from Advanced Design for rx7's that are adjustable for compression and rebound there avilable from Ground Control.

oh sure you can. its not made specifically for us, but the FB/SA rear shock is pretty generic

It's not even exciting seeing skylines in Japan. I see more of those than rx-7s, thats for sure. Been there 3 or 4 times, only seen 2 FD's, 1 FC. See like 2 Skylines a day.

Oh I completely understand what you mean.....I was reffering to all the idiot noobs who come over here and the only word out of their pieholes is gtr.......

Hell a skyline is at best a grand touring car IE GT. not a sports car, but you would think that its god's gift to the motoring world to here these turds talk.

I currently have ground control front struts (very similar to RE speed). I just thought it was cool to see a bolt up option with what looks like a ton of height adjustment. I don't think you can get dampers here for the RX-7 that adjust from the top like those pictured. My koni's have to be basically out of the car to adjust, or at least disconnected from the strut tower. That suspension set up sold in Japan is expensive though....... about 2k usd if you wanted everything. Looks like they do sell it piece by piece though. You will get much more bang for your buck with the RE speed kit

I just got back from Hong Kong last month. I saw a skyline on my first day. It appeared to be stock though. I was still excited.....hehe Here's a pic of it.

edit: Looks like my pic is too big to upload.

Cool! That's good to know. Can you specify, are you just putting MR2 rears in the front of your fb? Did you have to cut the strut housing down and re-thread it? If I remember correctly, you need to be using camber plates to put mr2 shocks up front right? since the rod diameter is smaller?

Advanced Design dampers are also adjustable for compresion and rebound from the top. I have them on my SA, there very easy to adjust.

the strut size is the same, insert drops right into an FB strut housing like its made to go there.

i think the part where it sits on the camber plate bearing is different from the FB illumina, but you can make/buy a bushing that fixes it, or change bearings.

actually the GC bearing is SAE, and the shock is metric, so you need the bushing either way with the GC stuff.

The ground control plates are made to fit the mr2 size strut. I had to mill down the end of the rx-7 strut rod where it runs through that bearing to make it smaller.

MR2 Illuminas + Respeed Camber Plates = Happy Car

I just upgraded from the "standard" Illuminas on the front the day before I left for the Tail of the Dragon. Great shock!

Also, you really can't beat the rest of the Respeed suspension parts for quality/cost/performance.

I took Duffman for a ride through the Dragon while I was down there and I think he was fairly impressed.

Well, on the "race version" a setting of 3 feels firmer than the 5 on the stock Illumina. I haven't even tried a setting over 3 yet, which is what I ran at the Dragon and it felt great.
