84 se problems

ok guys im having all around BAD LUCK WITH THIS CAR. Problem 1. the motor was swapped from an 85 se running strong. now when we reinstalled and put the intake on the oil metering rod is to short. how is that possible? problem 2. some days the car run great other times its awful? could a coil be going bad? they are accel super coils. problem 3. lately the car seems to have the fuel pump on all time. as soon as the key turns to run the fuel pump kicks on and if u dont start it right away u have to hold it wide open and it will spit and sputter then finally catch then rev to 6500 easily. so why is that doing that? problem 4 where can u get an adapter to mount a regular CAI to the AFM? i have a nice filter that mounts under the front chin almost like an intercooler but i have no way to run tubing? problem 5. why does my 13b surge somedays from 200 rpm to 1200. then back down. i heard TPS but it only occasionly does it

With an engine swap, there are many things that could be your problem.

1. Looking at your profile, I assume that you put an SE motor in your 2nd gen, right? The rod on your OMP was designed for the FC TB. It won't work the same with the SE TB without some bending and/or straightening. In my opinion, leave that rod disconnected and start pre-mixing. Do a search on the forum on pre-mixing and you will find most guys do it. The lubrication is much better and cleaner. I mix 1 ounce of 2 cycle oil for 1 gallon of gas.

2. Could be a hundred things. You'll have to narrow it down somehow.

3. All I know is that on an SE, the fuel pump does not work until you start cranking. Not sure about a 2nd gen.

4. Autozone.

5. Either there is a vacuum leak, probably somewhere in the intake, or the ECU, BACV, and TPS are not on the same page.

well no i sold my second gen its an 85 car with an 84 motor. i got everything figured out now but it sounds like it is running on one rotor. ive checked and compression is good all three cycles on both rotors? coils. cap. wires plugs r all good. could it be that with the 12a header on the 13b that without an O2 sensor it wont run right?

did u cut the 12a header flange to make it fit the 13b? without an O2 sensor the ecu wont know how much fuel it's dumping into the engine.
