J-Spec 1st Gen tuning/body kits.
Hey all.
I was just thinking, I know the J-spec trend is rather large now with the FD's. With their wide-body kits and other things, and I was just wondering, what kind of kits, looks and whatever were trendy with the 1st gen when it came out in japan?
Any funky body kits, trends, performance mods that are/were popular with the kids in the 80's?
What would you do to make a great replica J-spec first gen?

As far as I know it was pretty tame compared to what is out there today.
In any case here are some popular body kits for 1st gens.

The answer to the original question is that there was very little body/tuning kits offered in Japan for the Gen 1.
The wild aftermarket trend there did not really start until the late 80s when every manufacturer got into the hot car act, even if there was no chance to use them on the open road. What mattered was how fast they looked in the garage! This is why its so easy to get low mileage engines in Japan.

Than what's with the damned Levin? How did it and it's sister become so popular? And why do they have such cool kits?
I know it's because they are cheap and rear-wheel drive, but so are first gen 7's. Is it just because they were popular with drifters or something?
