Exclamation It's stating to win me over!

Let me start from the start.I got my first 7 in 97' it was a 86'GL and fell in love almost imedatly. Man did it handle, needed more torque but I learned to overcome that with the Suspension. Got a 86 gxl later and really loved it. They had alot of class, I thought and still do,and are real sports cars. So I'll have to admitt that when I bought this car (83 fb) all I could think was "I wish it were a second gen." Well after getting rid of the rats and fixing a couple other minor problems,Wow! This car is really kinda fun,the way the motor sounds without the smog equipment is AWESOME!Still got some problems (still one small leak to find for those of you who know me now) but I am starting to appreciate the finer points of the first gen! Thanks guys for helping me get here! I knew the car could be nice and thanks to you're help I got some unearned experience right out of the hole!

The 2nd gen is only appealing if you have never seen or driven the 1st - JK

I still don't think they handle as well, but they are fun.

1st gen..

ya there is something to be said about a first gen, when I was in the market for a 7 I wanted a fc turbo II or an fd, but I stumbled across an 84 gsl se, I always liked the first gen body styles but was afraid because of there age and renowned problems... after one test drive it magically turned into the 84 se sitting infront of my house lol severe problems and all I would still rather have it than an fb or fd

I defiantly like the FB's more The FC's have some nice features, and are more luxurious, but the FB's are just so much more fun to drive.

Now, the TII's are different, I think they are more fun than a FB if they are both stock. But take that TII turbo and put it on a FB, and you have yourself a VERY fun and fast car

The SE didn't have anything special about it's suspension. The wheel bolt pattern and the bigger brakes don't count)

You know, I used to think they looked like a wedge cut out of a cheese wheel from the side and hated FBs as a kid. Now I absolutely love the lines. I've never seen an SA, but I love the FB. And they're old enough that now all they want is to be cleaned up, trim up some of the unnecessary systems, and to be played with. Besides, they're CHEAP.

Sure they do. Whats the most important part of your suspension? The tires, without good tires its all useless. And with the better lug pattern you have a larger selection of wheels to put those tires on. Plus you have more opportunities to get light wheels. And while brakes arent handling per say handling and braking usually go hand in hand so you could argue that as well.

I suppose I should have clearified myself by saying that other than the wheels and the bigger brakes that there is nothing different about the SE's suspension. Oh.... I guess I did say that.

True enough on the suspension.Once I get a suspension under here I'm sur it will ahndle better. It will never be the "yuppie" kind of nice that the fc and fd's are but I will admit " It's alot of fun to drive" Alot more of the old school raw power that I have grown up loving. I may even keep this one when I get done.(Had planned on fixing it uo and selling it to get a tII

Ditto...or put a 12at in an FB. I like the styling on the FB's more then I do the FC's. Nothing beats a FB with a wide body kit on it. *drools* I feel like I'm driving a sport car in an FB. FC's are just to damn big for my taste...and I'm 6'2''. LOL
