Its ALIVE!!!

I bought my '79 RX-7 about 4-5 months ago and have it stored up at my parents. My parents live a good 2 hours away from me so I only get to work on my car about every other weekend. When I bought the car, I knew it didn't run. After messing around with stuff for a while, I figured out the carb was the problem. Countless hours spent tearing it apart and rebuilding it didn't help.

Finally, drozhenbane came to my rescue. He had a carb laying around, so he sent it to me. Tonight, I made the drive up to mom and dad's to open my present waiting for me. I hooked the carb up and tried starting the car. After pulling out the choke, and cranking on it, my car roared to life. It was one of the happiest moments of my life.

So I took the car out around the farm only to realize it has no brakes (my project for tomorrow) and it won't rev above 4,000 rpm's. But at least I got to drive it. It was dark when I took it out as well as being 4 below zero. RX-7's don't like cold I found out. It was tempramental, noisy, smelled of exhaust, and difficult to keep running....I LOVED it.

Sorry for writing a book, but I just wanted to share my enthusiasm of taking my first drive in my RX-7 as well as give a big THANK YOU to drozhenbane. You rock!!!

I just recently got my 82 running and it is a great feeling. Best of luck with the car and may you never forget that feeling when it first started.

Good stuff. Now you can fix your brakes and then come to the meet whenever we have it. It sounds like it will be close to you so no excuses for not going.
