Intro here
hey all. My name is Mike and I just bought, ok tomorrow I pay for it and bring it home, a 1983 Rx-7 Limited Edition.....1500 I would say thats a steal-ish. ANYWAY. Im currently stationed in Virginia Beach, but in a few months Ill be in Maryland to do my shore duty in Pax River. I cant wait to get my baby in the my grips, and start to restore it.....the last owner tried to take care of it, but didnt have the cash flow. Im always up for suggestions, and I think a few of my ideas arnt bad. as soon as I get started though let the updates begine huh? Anyway heres what I want to to. Already it has a Custom hi-flow cat-back exaust. What I want to do with it is to get it repainted black, get two racing seats and replace the old ones which look like a tiger got it claws into em. interior wise Im making it red. strut bar under the hood, and possibly a cold air intake, not taking out the old one, seen it done before and I want to keep some of the originality in it. Engine wise I was thinking of putting a 13B turbo in it from a 85, the guy before me replaced the old transmission and such with 1983 parts, everything but the engine is from a 1983, so yea much for originality but Im trying, as I decided to keep the 12A engine. so yea, as I think of something Ill post it and such, Im new to this so I do use the search a lot and the FAQs a lot as well. Anyway, I know my grammar sucks, possibly spelling too, but thats me and a little of what I want to do and such. Thank you for yer time

PICS!!
...13BT (T-II, turbo engine) was available in the 1987-1991 RX-7, not the '85 (84-85 GSL-SE got the normally aspirated 13B)
Oh, and the grammar and spelling seem just fine, it does make things more readable if you break posts up into readable chunks though (ie. hit enter occasionally )

what are you in the Navy? (i've got 4 years active duty Army and 1 and a half reserve) the 83 LE is a great choice!! me personally, i'd keep it fairly original because of its limited availability. i personally wouldn't change the appearance of cars that are that rare, but its your car! welcome to the club

I'll tell you what I tell all the new guys...
The Archives at the top of the page have pretty much every answer to every question you can think of. If you don't see it in the Archives, then use the search function. Other than that, welcome aboard, and take good care of your new baby.
<-----Ex Navy, btw.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like ya got a nice deal on the car. Can't wait to see the pics.
I'm Active Duty Air Force, stationed at Tinker AFB, OK for the time being. Pretty good bunch of rotorheads we have around here.

Yeah, welcome Mike, an LE is a good buy, IMHO I would keep the color original, do minimal improvements to keep it looking like an LE. One thing I recommend through experience is search the 2GCDFIS upgrade, my economy went from 18 to 25 mpg with this and a basic tune.
Also consider installing a GSL rear end to gain both LSD and rear disc brakes.
Enjoy and welcome to the dark side
