Question intermediate housing

i bought this gsl-se from this lady in florida and the car was stock and was running good until it broke a apex in the rear rotor when i opened up i found that both rotor housing had the coolant groove which its normal for an 85 13b. but the front, intermediate & rear housing they all have coolant groove as well plus they were like someone sanded them before.you cant hardly feel the grooves on all of them. so anyway what you guys think the can be use again.

That's pretty strange. Are you sure that there are grooves really there? Sometimes it can just appear that there are grooves because the water seals leave marks on the side housings. If they are there, then it must have post '86 side housings. I am not sure how the water seals would work in this situation since they are not compressed properly. Either way, you could and should get the side housings lapped which will remove any small grooves or imperfections.

I have heard of some racers using old rotor housings with newer side housings and just doubling up on the water seals. I personally wouldn't do this though.

? Never heard of that. I don't know how well it can seal since I never heard of anyone doing that.

Has any else ever heard of that? Now if someone made a special thick inner rotor housing and outer rotor housing seals to fully fill the gap it could work? Don't know though. I wouldn't ever try it though.
