intake part #

Hey guys,

For you guys that have K&N cone's on, what part # did you use? Don't have the cash to buy the Bonez intake, so looking at picking up a generic K&N cone and fitting it with some flex rubber.

Also...for exhaust, any benefit going > 2.5" back?

Thanks,

/F/

He's gotta be talking about a 13B. I used the biggest cone I could get that would fit my adapter. BTW, I don't know if the GSL-SE's need the adapter plate, but if you do, I have one that I could sell you cheap. You'll know if you need it. It bolts onto the AFM allowing a cone to be strapped on.

No. Use 2.5". Any bigger will be too big.

How did you decide which one? Were there a bunch on a shelf and you picked it? What's the biggest cone you can get that will fit in the compartment?

Yep its an 85 GSL-SE 13B.

I may need to take you up on that adapter plate. Once I actually buy the cone, I'll be able to tell.

Thanks

To find the right one, you have to go into Napa or Schucks or something and tell them you need a K&N cone. They'll ask what car, you'll say it's not car specific. They'll say something stupid back. This is the hard part. You have to force them to look for a cone with the right inner diameter. They have the ability to do this, but never like to so you really have to convince them. I think mine is from something like a 74-78 Suburban (it's big ).

Not sure on the biggest that will fit, but I think mine is 9 inches long and it just barely fit in my second gen. When I put that engine (same as GSL-SE engine of course) into my first gen it fit with a decent amount of room left. My filter is overkill. I'd say 7 inches will do just fine.
