intake manifold leak

my carbd 13b in my 79 has a slow water leak that seaps up through the intake gasket i just planned on replacing the gasket but would like to know if it is maybe something worse. Also the leak only happens after i first start the car but stops when the car warms up. Please help me with this problem, thanks.

You say its leaking thru the intake manifold gasket.. How do you know it not leaking thru a coolant o-ring?

Take the intake off and see if you can see if it has been leaking otherwise it could be much worse.

So what are you really asking, if one of us would come over and replace the gasket for you ?

Only if you live where it's 85 degrees every time you drive.

Manifold heat = Good Thing... means you require less accelerator pump shot and the car runs smoother.

I was kidding.....

I had a internal coolant leak that would get my spark plugs wet with coolant, each time the car cooled down.

Paul Yaw gave me the fix for that (in a can), race that engine for a entire race season.

my 12a BP has the same problem. I put in new gasket and o-rings but it still seeps a little at cold start, but when it warms up its ok.

Ive been told that to fix it i will need to machine the manifold and get a perfectly flush mounting.

i can survive with a little leak when its cold
