hey guys i dont want flame, but my factory tach just sucks and i got a tach that i want to install, and i have 4 wires. green, white, black, and red. now i know black is ground, but where do i wire the rest?

Im not sure if the tach's wiring is universal but this is for autometer, here it goes:
red = ignition (+) or anywire that can supply juice when the engine is running
black = ground
green = coil's (-) terminal. FB's tach is in the trailing coil.
white = dash light

forgot about this thread! haha ne ways, where is the negative terminal? and where would u suggest mounting all these up to?

the wires?

The red wire goes to switched power that is on when your car is on.
The black wire goes to a ground
The white wire is power for the light( you can hook this to your switched dash light power)
The green wire hooks to the negative terminal on either coil.

Also, if the tach is cylinder adjustable, put it on 4 cyl

okay, i guess im retarded cause i couldnt find any wires to hook the red green or white wires to go into, what do i do? i want to do it today

What tach signal wire are you using.

I hooked up an Autometer tach in my Yota truck and it was relatively simple.

I hooked up my power sources at the fuse box (which is conveniently next to the clutch pedal), and soldered a longer wire to hook up to coil. I had to solder the extra wire in order to be able to route it through the firewall. Run a coathanger through a grommet in the firewall and hook the wire to pull it through.
