installing a aftermarket tach
hey guys i dont want flame, but my factory tach just sucks and i got a tach that i want to install, and i have 4 wires. green, white, black, and red. now i know black is ground, but where do i wire the rest?

the wires?
The red wire goes to switched power that is on when your car is on.
The black wire goes to a ground
The white wire is power for the light( you can hook this to your switched dash light power)
The green wire hooks to the negative terminal on either coil.

I hooked up an Autometer tach in my Yota truck and it was relatively simple.

I hooked up my power sources at the fuse box (which is conveniently next to the clutch pedal), and soldered a longer wire to hook up to coil. I had to solder the extra wire in order to be able to route it through the firewall. Run a coathanger through a grommet in the firewall and hook the wire to pull it through.
