Installing 2nd gen 13B sunday..

I am installing the 13B I had laying around into the 85 track **** sunday..here's my question. It's been sitting outside (covered) for the past year (pickled in MMO) and I was wondering what the best way to start this SOB would be.. Should i hand crank her around or what..... Also will a 12A starter work on a 13B flywheel?

Thanks for the advise and prepare for some pics....

handcranking it and pouring down some motor oil, so as to 'lock' compression, should work... 10/30 or 20/50. good luck!

If anyone can tell me what i did wrong by looking at this picture I will send you $1 by mail...

Look close and answer back why it took 6 hours for a simple install (5th time i have done one) Seriously tell me why. I will inform you within a few days of why. In the mean time check out the pics and enjoy. The good news is it is in. All i have to do is finish the "custom" intake manifold and i'll be all set...

Ding Ding DIng....WE HAVE A WINNER!!!! MOther FUc@ker WTF? I can't believe I let that happen.... Here's a pic of the guy who swore he knew he had it back together right... A simple 1.5 hour install took six and i broke my hand... Anyways Thanks for playing and the check is in the mail... I swapped it around after wrestling the motor in with it on backwards yes the block itself will fit but you can't have exhaust or tranny... and it sits cockeyed too.... Anyways out of the 5 installs and 8 dismantles i have done this is the worst experience ever...

Here's the culprit..... MY BROTHER IN LAW! Anyways this car should be finished sometime after winter. Moral of the story ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING!!!!

I always thought it was best to lower the engine into the bay and mate it to the tranny before attatching the front cover motor mount. Of course by then, it's basically Gomer-proof.
