inserts = huh?
ok so i have been checking out some stuff for my soon to be susp. upgrades and im coming along with some good findings but im confused. how are aftermarket shocks installed on the fb?
some ppl. are saying they are like inserts u buy and put into the shock boy i kinda noticed how the front hub/bearing is connected to the strut its self so if i buy say a set of tokico blues do i simply insert them into the the hub/bearing/axle/whatever assembly? im undecided between some koni's i found on ebay and either blues or illuminas....id really like the adjustability especially in the front because i havent decided on a spring yet....any thoughts?
p.s. by the way if any body has a used set of blues and some good aftermarket springs in good condition lemme know and give me a price i bought a set of rear blues but if i find a whole set up ill put those on my lil bros 7 and do the shi-bang on mine :0

It's obvious if you've got the strut assembly out of the car. The tube you see behind the hub assembly is where the shock is. If you look in the engine bay where the strut assembly bolts to the shock tower, you'll see a little cap in the middle. Take it off, and you'll see a nut. the threaded part there is also the shock. If you take the whole strut off, you'll use a spring compressor to take the strain off the strut top, loosen the nut, and take the top and all the spacers and whanot off. Now you've got a strut tube with a shock. There's a hex insert which you'll loosen, and now you've got the shock out. Reverse the process to put it all back together.
