Inner shifter boot removal

Putting dash and center console back together. Replacing a torn inner shifter boot. How do you take the shifter itself apart to replace the boot? Asking as there appears to be a pin holding everything in place. Thanks!

Agh! So easy. I saw that pin and thought I was in a world of trouble. Boot just slides off. Duh.

It does slide off. I typically use silicone spray as a lubricant for removal and for install. Helps so that the rubber doesn't hang up on the ball on the shifter. I would however, clean the rust off of the shifter ball pivot. I would at least wire wheel it off and maybe consider polishing it up a little for smoother shifting.
