infinity basslink(old style) in storage bin?

well, i'm getting a infinity basslink from a friend for cheap and i want to know if it'll fit in the storage bin with some modification. I just really want something hidden, don't really want my car broken into.
has anybody done this and have pics?
I removed the driver's bin today and it looks like it might be a tight squeeze. I know i'll have to cut the insides and maybe make some brackets, my main goal is to at least keep the lid on there, so it can hide it completely. pics of similar setups in the storage bins would also be appreciated.

Have fun listening to the storage bin lid rattling constantly....

I considered a hidden sub before, but I'd rather not break the lid off of my bin after it rattled constantly for a week or so.

Here's what I would suggest if you want a hidden sub or anything hidden in the storage bin area:

-Remove the bin and toss it aside.

-Mount whatever you want to mount down there

-Get a piece of sheet metal, cut to the size/shape you need/want and bolt into the existing storage bin holes

-Cover the sheet metal with carpet (preferably matching)

This should give you a cover like you want and will give you more flexibility with mounting since you will direct access to the metal below the storage bin.

I haven't done anything like this myself, but it seems like a reasonable solution.

Good luck!

i plan on addressing the rattling issue, after i figure out if it'll fit first. i have no problem with bolting the lid shut and using a little dynamat, foam tape, here and there, whatever it takes.

what iam doing with my seven this summer is taking out both the bins and the metal that hold them and building the box for 2 10"s (bare with me here its gunna get diffucalt to explain) iam gunna build the box so that it come from the floor to just over flush with the hatch carpet like 3-5 inchs higher at the back and will come down flush with the carpet i dont know the degree though that the subs will sit on but iam gunna have a peice of carpet that sits in the hatch when iam using the subs and when there off I can clip this thin peice of carpet over top so if some one looks in they will not know that they are there. the back that faces the seats is gunna match the interior as well. i want to make it look like it would be stock like that if someone doesnt knowthese cars. my seats sit forward alot so i have the room cause iam only 5'3 the seats as foward as it goes. I will have to build over the trainy bum. does any one think this will work? i dont want the subs facing the bac of the seats i want them on angle towards the hatch glass

Okay first thing we are all forgeting here with wanting to hide our subs is this.......Sound is created by the movement of air......So you have an enclosure, such as the infinity basslink which sounds very nice, and now you want to put it inside of another box. Its not going to sound nice. I know you may think its not to different than sticking it in a trunk but it is. The truink is large, plenty of airspace for the basslink to breathe. Now how do I know this crap.......I've been installing stereos for about 10-11 years now and I worked at a shop for a couple of years and yes I have installed plenty of basslinks. I had one in my RX7 for awhile I mounted it behind the passenger seat next to the B-pillar, right next to the seat belt, over the bin. It sounded good. I tried in the bin.....The sound??? Not to good.
I have also been ghetto enough to put a 6 inch sub bazooka tube in my spare wheel well, yes it poped out a bit but nothing to noticable. That Tube puonded more than the Basslink ever could and I only fed it 80watts Rms.
And to RXtory I built a box to replace the storage bins about 4 years ago. I used two 12 inch subs facing upward. To intentionally show them off. With one 4 inch port in the middle. Here are a couple of links to some pix. I understand you want the speakers to face the backs of the seats instead but let me know if I can offer you any of the measurements for the pieces I have to help you start off with your project. I had also wanted to do a box similar to what you described but I never got around to it.
If anyone is wondering.......Yes the two 12 inch subs were pure thunder. They were Cerwin Vega subs with 600 watts RMS of Hifonics amp powering each one individually. thats a total of 1200 watts, not even peak power. We put it together to prove a point to someone when I was younger.......hehehehhe..........Point well made......hahahhaha....
Here are some pix to the box we had made.

thanks for the info turboIIguy and rxtory, i guess i'll have to reconsider the whole placement of this thing. I'll have to see when i get it tomorrow if i want it in the hatch area or if i should just save it for a future vehicle.

What type of bass are you looking for? Rock quick snapping bass music or Rap DEEP BASS!!! Also the storage bins are a bit small for subs unless you customize them heavily...Best option is to remove the complete storage bins and metal plates that are used for mounting the bins. Then re-Create a similiar sized box that the carpet can cover over so you cant see the box but make two air holes one for each sub side etc and you can always use a nice piece of Plexi-Glass to use on the top...I need to draw up a blue-print i think, Let me know if you get the idea
