important intake and exhaust manifold info

I feel like Ive been here long enough to start sharing good useful information with everyone.

Im in the process of doing a manifold swap on my car, and I have a handful of parts laying around, and I did a few experiments on my spare GSLSE block. Needless to say, i made a few startling discoveries.

I hear all the time about putting a S4 intake manifold onto the SE motor. Well, I tried that and I found that there is what I think to be an EGR passage on the SE block that is NOT on the S4 LIM.

I was also trying to see how much the S4 NA LIM interferes with the stock turbo but when I put the stock turbo manifold to the block, I found another problem, the stock T2 turbo manifold WILL NOT fit on the SE block without modifications. There is a set of bolt holes that are extra and obviously not on the T2 bolck. I dont know if it matter, but I am using a S5 T2 turbo manifold.

Then, I looked at the T2 LIM to see about porting it to match the SE block, and I found another problem. Everything Ive ever heard is that you can port the T2 LIM without having to add any metal, but I found out that this is false as well.

The left side of the manifold if you are looking at the engine side.

And the right side.

And in the middle, there is a place for vacuum that will also have to be filled in.

That's not EGR. It is the ACV port and it will leak exhaust if you don't cover it some how.

Thanks for showing everyone how the intermediate plate on a GSL-SE has a motor mount area between the exhaust ports and a 2nd gen does not. They moved them to the bottom.

i just looked at the manifold again because i was marking where the new ports will need to be, and i noticed that there doesnt look to be enough metal to make the new ports without adding metal to the backside of the manifold.
