i'm so fsckin lucky...

was driving today, leaving safeway on my way to work, when i hear my belt squeel for a second, look down and see my voltage was kind of low, figured maybe the belt was slipping causing the alternator not to work.. so i turn around to go to schucks to buy a pry bar, and decide i'll stop just to make sure the belt was still on there... what i found was not pretty... i open my hood, and i see a little bit of steam looking stuff(obviously not steam tho, i'm running Evans NPG+, no water in my system), and literally as soon as i got the hood propped up, the sensor on the top of the radiator literally fly's up in the air and evans npg sprays everywhere, including my face(lucky i didn't get burned!!!)... well, to build pressure in a system running evans NPG, i figured i had to do 1 of 2 things... either get up over 300+ degrees F, or have a massive coolant seal leak which causes the combustion pressure to be pushed into the coolant system... well, turns out it was #1, but anyways... so i call my gf... i'm scared shitless my motor's gonna be dead, my car's gonna be off the road AGAIN, so i go to schucks, belt in hand, buy a new belt, and pry bar, so i can put it on... put the belt on, the car's probly been off almost an hour, figure temps r probly down enough... it starts up fine, not smoking at all, had the gf go behind the car to see if there was any smoke at all, nothing, so i drive it to work, its having a hard time holding idle... still worried about the car, so i baby it to work... well tonight after work i go out, start it up again, driving home... it idles perfectly again, i'm so glad my motor didn't pop, but i still don't know if there was any damage, and probly won't ever know till i open it up... which here's hoping that won't be soon! i'm going tomorrow to buy a yoohoo belt, and get my guage cluster, i really need a temp guage, somehow the wire turned up missing for the stock one...

usually when an engine gets damaged from overheating like that the results can show up over time, not immediately. It happened to me

In other news, thank goodness that RX-7's have voltmeters in the dash! It's saved me a couple of times.

Non-Aqueos-Propolene-Glycol... no water involved, it's boiling point is much much higher than water, so u don't get hot spots inside the motor from where the coolant boils and makes steam pockets... it also doesn't allow electrolysis to occur, since theres no water involved, and it'll last the life of ur motor, as long as u don't spring a leak lol

http://www.evanscooling.com/catalog/C_npg1.htm

and specifically, NPG+, which is what i use...

http://www.evanscooling.com/html/npgPls.htm

i only went this route because it was a brand new engine, i didn't want to deal with draining antifreeze from the motor etc

"The elimination of water virtually stops corrosion, water pump and cylinder cavitation."

wow i didn't even see that before, so now my water pump doesn't cavitate at 7800 rpm or whatever the number is? holy hell
