im new to the rotor motor help

g;day ok heres the prob " i just bought an RX71980, with a 13b motor in it not the 12a back to the prob she runs sweet most of the time but for no reason it will start to run rough like its missing bad on 1 or 2 sparks as if its flooding , if i let the rpm down she stalls and there no chance of starting it 4 at least 30mins,when she does start very fuel-y (from being flooded right) now im thinking its the carb
ive checked the spark no poblem , funny it is that it only happens every now and then?
maybe some one else ahs had the same problem and can help me fast tack the fualt
thanks
its a 13b engine with a 4barrial carb, (looks standed")
motor has exstended ports
and yes it screams when shes running right
oh and if any ones got the diagram for the carby please send it to me i have a manaul but it doesnt show enough on the carby

You might be having ignition problems from a bad coil. Try swapping out your coils (leading for trailing and vice versa) and see if your problem persists

thanks guys for your answers

umm yeah as for the carb im not sure i beleave it a standed 4barriel for the 13b i cant see any name on it ?
tell me what to look for, i have just put a fuel additive in the tank suppost to clean the carby ,well see if it works. i have also changed the fuel pump over with the spare i have as the other would tick over all the time i beleave it should slow down as the presure builds up? , my thinking the other might have had a hole in the diapham , it could be some thing as basic as some dirt in the float bowl that is only sticking every now and then i really dont want to pull it down with out some plans of the carb

i tryed the ignition sys i am getting a good spark how ever i will try and change the coils i have two spare when i bought the car i got another complet 1980RX7 with it also has a 13b motor (in peaces thought the hole thing some thing to play with not to mention the spares side of it )

i started to change the front link rubber its just a 6" bolt lol but the sleave on it was rusted bad and its a long weekend here so nothing open till tuesday boo who, but im sure the standed bolt i put in it will be fine till i get the proper ones then (keeps me on the road
( sorry about the spelling not my best subject)

No Rx-7 ever came with a carbureted 13b, so its either from an earlier rotary or its a Holley or something else aftermarket.

Does it have a light blue air cleaner on top of the carb? If so, then it's a stock carb from a pre RX-7 car.

All rx-7 13bs were unless someone swapped the FI for an aftermarket carb... the 4 port were carbed stock though, but they weren't in rx-7s

You can gain roughly 30-40hp from putting a nice carb on a FI 13b

A big carb can flow better then the stock FI system, so it can make more power. However, a FI system can outperform a carb. So, why not just use a "big" FI system? Because it can cost several times the price of the car, as opposed to the sub-$1000 price of the big carb.

ok took the car for a road ticket today not bad a few little things the fix is all ,
1.bolt sets down lol , as if i wouldnt any way
2.ball joints,
3.brake pad front and back,
4.no second speed on the wipers (split wire is all),
5.air fan heat/cool aur not working(sucks that he hit me for that )
6.battery clamp
7.two uni joints (i can think of better joint
8.and lucky last a rear brake cylinder ( but im going to replace both might as well)
so thats not to bad
i changed the coil leads over as on the test drive today she still played up , funny thing is it runs sweet as ??? lol still plays up every now and then but i only need to give it a few revs and she goes fine if that dont work i stop kill the engine for a few sec's start her up and shes fine again lol strange??? ( makes me think theres some dirt in the fuel bowl gets sucked up and blocks the jet maybe when i stop the engine it sinks to the bottom of the fuel bowl??? just a thought and i had it happen to an old desiel truck i owned
so we are getting there so keep the ideas coming
and ill have some pic's in 2 or 3 days if any one wants to see
