Well, here we go!!!
Nice surprise: It has a sunroof!
There's a little rust here and there, nothing too drastic. The interior is in suprisingly good condition, considering the age and the fact that the car has sat for the last year and a half.
I'm pulling out the entire interior and switching to black. Can I dye the dash, or do I have to switch it out? I would rather go with a dash and gauges from an 83, but that looks like a pita to find.

It will need new bumper covers:

And just some serious cleaning:

It's going to get a new paint job to go along with the new interior.

The only serious problem with the interior (other than the fact that it's red...):

The back glass was up in that pic.
The guy I bought it from was nice enough to put on new struts on the glass, it popped right up. He also installed aftermarket power door locks. There is also a pretty nice Kenwood or Pioneer CD player. I am going down to Sears in a minute to get a new battery for it.

You might also want to swap in a GSL-SE suspension (takes 4X114.3 rims instead of the rare 4X110), and when you switch to black interior door panels be sure to get the ones used on the '85 GSL and GSL-SE models. These panels are a more uniform molded style that look nicer and don't crack and distort at the window sills the way your current ones have.
As for the dash, yes you can apply Vinylkote to it using a standard painting system or those "Preval" sprayers sold by Home Depot. If the squared-off look of the dash is not to your liking, and you don't want the aggravation of swapping in one from an '83 or prior, you could probably mold one out of fiberglass by applying a release agent to the current dash. The new piece could then be velcroed to it.
The end result would not look like the stock '83 and prior unit, but you could still customize it to your liking. This is something that could be done in one weekend if you have the know-how or a buddy who does.

GS or GSL? 84 or 85? I am guessing it is a GS, due to the lack of power windows (a bonus, in my opinion) and the aftermarket power locks.
Looks like a very nice place to start, even that one fender wasn't too bad.
