ignitor problem/question

hey i was just wondering how i could check if its still good or actually working? i can't rev my car up past 6smoothly. it was happening not to long ago and i fixed it with spark plugs. now i think its a ignitor. the thing next to the distributor i hope it's called that. do i use a volt meter? what numbers should i see when i run this test?

There is a test proceedure for ignitors in the FSM. Sec. 5, p. 37. They either work or they don't, no middle ground. Problem sounds more like a fuel issue, but it wouldn't hurt to check the cap and rotor.
