Ignition Wire to tap for electric fan
Hi fellow rotary enthusiasts.
Any suggestions as to what I should tap into for the ignition cable for an electric fan?
I've poured over the wiring schematics in my Haynes workshop manual but this car is so butchered that nothing seems to be where it should. Any suggestions as to what is going to allow for thermostatic switch (165 on, 145 off) with ignition on control.
So hard to see the colors on these wires too.
Any help is definitely appreciated.

Oh, duh. Forgot that part. Thanks.
1984 RX7 GSL-SE. It's been really butchered though. No emissions hoses, loads of random connectors without connections...
I was going to tap onto the back of the alternator but thought that wouldn't be wise.

I may be an outlier but I just let the fan run when the car is off. The fan should only run when a defined conditions are met (sensor detects the water is above trigger temp). Isn't this is also how some (most?) modern cars operate?
If you need/want an ignition source wouldn't the ignition wire going to the coils work? Or maybe one of the fuses? Since it's just ignition signal you are looking for load will be very low.

Yeah, I don't really want the fan running when the car is off. I mean. I'd like the ignition line to control what is going on in my engine bay. So you think coming off the first line that goes to the coils would work?

Correct. Super easy to connect to. Will take the power source from the battery but wanted to use the relay off of the ignition. Much appreciated!!

I just installed my new dual electric fans with a dual fan controller and got it connected to a positive terminal on one of the coils....it only works when the ignition is on....

Dang, y'all took a much better approach than I did. I ended up running the wire all the way inside the cabin and tapping into the defroster power wire. Guess it was habit since I've already tapped into it for a number other things, but I wish I had thought of just using the ignition coil. Hindsight is 20-20 they say...
