Ignition problems
Could you guys please help me with my 85 gs? It was running decent untill recently I bought some new ngk spark wires for it over the winter and I put them on in the cold weather. I tried to start it and it wouldn't start. I figured I had flooded it, so I went through the de-flooding procedure in warmer weather and checked the spark plug wire position and tried to start it. It fired, but wouldn't turn over. I checked the spark plugs and they sparked, but I went ahead and bought new ones anyway because they hadn't been changed since the last owner. It has gotten warm enough to try that yet. Sorry if this question is stupid, I'm only 16 and I'm learning as much as I can about rotaries. Your help would be much appreciated

Did you ever try to start the car without the plug wires connected?
If you did and the wire didn't reach ground then you could of blown the ignitors (located on the side of the distributor).

So you haven't changed the plugs yet?
They could be fouled, but I don't know if they'd be fouled enough not to start the car. I just changed my plugs yesterday and they were disgusting, but the car still started and ran. Could you have disturbed some of the connections to the ignitors or the coils? Cold weather makes those wires pretty damn brittle. (Ask me how I know.)

if you got spark and the engine is turning I'd lean more towards fuel or compression loss also check the fusable links their right where you were working on the plug wires.

I figured out what the problem was, the spring that works the choke was messed up and the choke butterfly wasn't closing so it kept flooding out the engine.I manually worked the choke and got it to start. Thanks for all the replys, I'm sure this probably won't be my last question
