Ignition problem

Okay, i have a problem with my trailing ignition system. My leading plugs fire fine, but neither of my trailing plugs do. I've replaced, distributor cap, rotor, plug wire's, and spark plugs and coils. Where to next, condensers, igniter? By the way, I have an 83 GSL.

Does your tach work?

If so, your ignitor is fine. the tach runs off the trailing coil.

Are you getting power to the trailing coil? I'm assuming there's no spark at the cap or plug

My multimeter says I'm only getting about 8 volts to the trailing coil.

That's bad. I loose 1 volt through the key switch. The alt output and the ignitors are where I measure from. I'm thinking of hooking up a relay but not sure how reliable it'll be. I just don't want to run new wires to the key and back.

That's the best way to do it. It should be perfectly reliable plus there's no better power source than the battery itself. Afterall, it's how you wire up audio systems (minus the relay) and big hp EFI fuel pumps isn't it?

It would be in pretty much any car, but not my REPU because the battery is down under the bed between the tire and door. However, the starter solenoid is perfect to draw from. It's how my fan gets its power (through a relay no less).
