Ignition Issues 1983 GSL

Had a little too much fun last night and when I tried to fire the ol' girl up this morning I would get the dash warning lights lighting up like normal, however, when I tried to do anything that required power it would cut out. No ability to crank. I've cleaned the terminals for the battery and replaced the battery with a fully charged one from the garage. I'm wondering if I burned out some sort of linkage... heading to a local auto parts store to get some face time.
There has been a pre-exsisting issue that I would press the brake pedal and my driving lights would come on and my "stop lamp" warning light is always on. It's been a constant for 2 years.
Thanks for any help on this (probably a newbie technical issue)

Edit: I recently replaced my starter (thanks to this forum) and I will probably end up checkin the power connections. If they were loose could that result in a complete lack of power? With this new battery in I don't even see the warning lights come on.

A loose positive on the starter would cause this problem. If you have fusible links, check out the thread that is going on right now:

Easy way to get rid of the fusible links and replace them with readily available BUSS fuses.
