a rotary sand rail customer brought this contraption in and asked me how to wire it up, i told the guy its not from this planet and i couldnt help him!!!LOL

Looks like an old Ford points system.I doubt it'll work anyway.

Those look optical on the dizzy. Appears to be nade for a waste spark setup, 2 sparks 180 deg out of phase.

it looks like a direct fire for the leading coils. kind of a MSD setup almost but as far as those boxes go who the hell knows. sell him a MSD 6a and cut the wiring off.

Those purple boxes are alison electronic ingition controls. The black disk with the two sensors are the triggers. I can only assume they used 2, one for the leading, one for the trailing. Its supposed to provide a faster, cleaner spark.

I have one brand new in box if you want me to check the manual. It actualy says it can NOT be used on rotary applications. Its used on 4 and 6cyl fords, jags, mg's, and any other distributed piston car.

 

I now have no clue how they wired that. Want the manual?

 

nah, thanks spider, the customer is going with a couple of msd 6al boxes and one of my locked dizzys.. i really wasnt sure where his weird ignition came from so i thought i would put it up on the forum to see what you guys thought it was...

still havnt heard from jeff20B, i thought for sure he would chime in.....

 

Allison was bought by Crane Cams maybe they can help with a wiring diagram

 

That looks like the same ignition distributor im using on my 12ATurbo..... Im using the 1980 distributor..... it came with the same ignition wires and boxes..... which I've removed & replaced with MSD boxes.

The distributor electronics looks different though.
