If you REALLY hate to re-wax your ride...

Hopefully the following rant wil not get punted for what might seem like shameless product promotion. I am just so stunned at how good this stuff is I wanted to share the discovery. I have switched my car-wax-of-choice to Zainos over a year ago and the result have been nothing short of phenomenal - and have been _laboriously!_ waxing my rides for some 30+ years.

I bought into the old-skool adage that if its too easy to apply, it must be crap - so over the years I have dutifully applied paste waxes. The results have always been fine - but the LIFE of the wax was always w-a-a-ay too short. If it still beaded up nicely after 3 months I felt lucky. I have used everything from Turtle Wax thru to the "deluxe" stuff like Mothers and Mequires.

Then I stumbled upon this site
http://autopia.org/forum/detailing-p...omparison.html
its a car detailing forum - honest (don't these people have LIVES??

Its a pretty good rant on the Zaino brand waxes and products so I ordered the wax and Gloss Enhancer Spray (quick clean-up between waxings). And I should mention, to order this stuff for delivery in Alaska means I had to have a buddy down South order it and relay it to me! Zaino doesn't ship to Alaska!! So you can see I am pretty impressed to go thru THAT hassle! I applied it to my RX last fall and put it in storage, and likewise applied it to my winter ride: 86 Saab 9000 Turbo. Results: well, simply: my Saab STILL beads up like a fresh wax 10 months later - after a -30 degree 5 month-long Alaska winter! Pics of it attached (ook, lack of RX content! sorry, but using RX waxing seemed a bit bogus since it was under cover for 5 months).

NO wax I have ever used lasted REMOTELY this long before - at this rate I will wax the Saab (and RX) ONCE a year!! Obviously your "mileage will vary" on how and where you live and drive - but this gives you an idea. You can see the wax on the leading edge of my Saab's hood has finally given way to friction - I do a LOT of highway driving, and, shall we say, roads on the Last Frontier are not exactly heavily patrolled

OK - the application: in a word BRAINLESS - its liquid so its effortly to apply - get it on glass, plastic, whatever, it buffs off no problem - none of that #$%@ white residue crap. Once dry (they say leave on for 30 min+) its equally effortless to polish off (I use those microfibre clothes - amazing) - none of the "baked-on" wax reside if you accidently leave on too long like the paste waxes.

Anyway - hope this may save some fellow rotorheads some grief. I love this stuff, inspite the hassles to get it - and my cars look great for a l-o-o-o-o-o-ong time. Oh, its about $13 a bottle. check it out at Zainostore.com. They offer a TON of choices, but I just kept to the basic wax and the Enhancer-

sweet man! i've used the nu finish stuff, and have been impressed by the duration between waxes. Nu Finish is the "once a year" car polish, but I re-aply every 3 or 4 weeks. The car still beads perfectly, but i figure the thicker the coat, the better.

A buddy of mine is hooked on some other stuff called Liquid Glass, which apparently applies thin, but you're supposed to re-aply as many times as you want, one right after the other. Haven't tried it, but after looking, and running my fingers across his paint, I think I'll try that stuff next

I've read so many post and different forums about Zanio. I personaly like to detail my cars, so I can justify spending this kind of money, but I never have. I'm currently using Turtle Wax Ice and I very impressed with the product. The great thing is that you can put it on anything and not worry about the white leftovers. I do one good wax a year with Mequiars and the rest with the Ice.

That forum is probably THE best detailing forum that I've seen in my life and lots of product reviews. I have hot tried Zaino yet, but that was the plan to get it after I paint my car and maintain it.

The site shows things inside and outside the car. So any spills, contaminated paint jobs, full of brake dust rims, and the works is all on there.

The biggest thing about correcting a paint job I find though if that if you have a mettalic car especially, the flakes realy do come more alive.

If you guys have not tried a clay bar treatment you must try it. Mothers makes the one that I have used and it work great. It removes all the little bumps and other contaminates from the paint leaving it super smooth. After I get done with this and a wax the paint feels like silk.

I'll have to give it a try.

I started a thread awhile ago about my recent discovery. I was at a car show and saw a booth from a product called AceIt. I entertained the salesman and his pitch. I was impressed so I thought I would try a bottle.

This stuff is amazing. I will put it on every vehicle I own and recommend it to everyone.

Yeah, a clay bar before you wax certainly makes for a smoother finish - amazing what bits it gets off the paint! understand its great for pulling some stains and such too - I would certainly clay down the car before my once-a-yr waxing.
Hey XLR8 - how long you used the Aceit?? Most ANY wax looks great for a few months - the main thrust of my Zaino rant was it stays glossy and beads for close to a YEAR - plus its so simple to apply...
