For the money it takes to buy an FD, screw that.

I would "invest" all of that money into my FB.

Yeah... if I had to money to keep three rx7's up, two FB's and one FD, then I would own one. But honestly the FD is just... over hyped. Sure its a great car, but too expensive. My FB's are great, anyway. Atop of that, with all that money you can make an FD eating monster of an FB.

For the money you are going to be putting in that FD, you could have an FB that would blow the doors off an FD.

I will take my FB anyday, I get more out of it, when something goes wrong I can fix it, I dont have to worry about taking it some where.

But I agree the FD has some sexy *** lines, Its fast and it is a blast to drive. Its just got the newer car feel.

Also for some reason the girls seem to like it more than the FB, but hey thats not the girl I want anyways, who likes cars, but doesnt know how to pump gas.

Trust me this is all from personal experience!

Damn. I want an FD someday just to compare the ride to that of my FB. I mean I know its going to be a lot more stable and all that, but will it be as fun? Every sports car I've driven hasn't given me that "Fun to drive" feeling when I drive it like the FB, and its obviously because all of the other sports cars I've driven are newer with options galore, and built to be as creature comfortable as possible. I just love the feeling of bare bones FB's. I feel like I am a part of the road when I am driving it, and that to me is more fun than just going fast.

I CAN afford it and have looked at a lot of FDs but they quite simply aren't as much fun to drive as the FB.

I ended up buying a Boxster S, which I consider far superior to the FD in entertainment and quality, and still enjoy driving the FB more. Ultimately, for me, fun to drive is what a sports car is about and the FB has it more than most more modern sports cars.

No.

If I wanted an FD, I would have an FD. They're common enough.

I do not want an FD. I want a 1st-gen. I have a 1st-gen. I am happy with this.

Having an FD would suck so bad! You can't haul stuff in them, you have to slow down for bumpy roads (and probably still mangle the body/suspension anyway), they're heavy, they're cramped, the interiors are 90's era Shapeless Blob.

They dent *really* easily, too. I bet even a few cone impacts would have an FD looking like it was in a demolition derby.

I too could afford an FD, but I would rather just have my FB's running great and be able to have a *reliable* rotary. I mean its easy to find an FD for around 12-15 grand now. I make more than twice that per year at 21 years old. If I were to buy a newer rotary, chances are it would be an RX 8 simply because I can haul four people around and still claim rotary power. I already have two two seat sports cars, why would I want a third?

I have a great love for the FD, but its still over hyped. Fast? Yes. Reliable? Hardly. Handle? Not as good as the rx 8. Then you look at the rx 8, and its decently quick. It is reliable. You can haul three other people around comfortably. And its handling is top notch.

well, i could afford an fd if i wanted to, but why? i love fd's dont get me wrong but i would never let my fb go. me and my fb grew up together and were gonna stick together forever. that sounded really gay for some reason. anyways if you like the fd and the fb, why not put them together as one like mine. then youll have the best of both worlds just like zbeater said!!

I had a FD for a while. It is a GREAT car, don't get me wrong. I think I will keep my FB though. I am having more fun tinkering with it and making it work better then I ever did on the FD. That guy is a pain in the *** to work on, and it forces you to do so.

I could have an FB but seeing as I need a reliable car, I stick to my FBs, one is driven 1000 miles a week the other is becoming a race car, both are more fun for the $ than I can describe, hell no I don't want a car that's fragile, cop bait, unreliable, questionable handling on poor streets and thief bait to top it off.

I dunno.. the FDs are sexy, but I'd never be able to do any work on it myself.

I love the simplicity of the FB. No computers, carbed, so much room in the engine bay. The car is light and nimble, weighs only 2300lbs...

If I had an FD, I'd always be relying on others for repairs, and I'd be in way over my head. Though I guess I'd probably learn I don't like how insanely complicated they are.

But they ARE sexy...

It's a tough call.

If I had the money for an FD, that probably means I have enough money to keep my FB too. I'd have to drive both until I decided.

I could afford an FD, but I'm stuck in the 80's.

wow, I must say I would've thought that more of us 1g guys would like one. Personally they are easy on the eyes, but I've just got memories with fb's and they are a blast to drive and work on. Like everyone else has said we could build fd eaters with all the money it takes to own one. I'd like a 2g eventually b/c a buddy of mine had one and it was nice. I still like my 1g more tho. I forget who said it, but if I was gonna get a newer rotarty it would be the 8. I know some of use don't like the looks, and its not sporty enough for some of us, but it was made to hold 4 people and still be sporty. Its not meant to be a 7, just a relative of it.

On the subject of the RX-8:

For the price of an RX-8 I could have an amazingly fast RX-4 wagon, that seats a lot more than the RX-8 and is faster... although probably not handle as well. Who is concerned with handling when you've got a bumpin' party in the back of your car, though?

Before I bought my first 7, I was looking for a 300ZX-TT, they were running 18k and up at the time and I couldn't see spending that much money on one. By chance, I ran across the the 87 I still have, then began looking to have one of each gen. I bought a couple of 1st gens, while looking for a 3rd, and couldn't find one that I trusted. I did make a couple of offers that weren't accepted, and now I am glad they weren't.

15 7s later, split evenly between 1st and 2nd gens, I do not want a 3rd and am now looking for an old school one. If I had a 3rd gen, it would probably be shot as I hate to trouble shoot electronics and all of the other crap they put on them. At my age, I like to keep life as simple as possible. A 3rd gen no longer fits that parameter.

I'd get one if I have the spare money, or my FB is totally done with. I never test drove any of them but I test drove the RX-8, and oh man oh man! That was a blast to drive! Me and my bro are so tall, the backseats can't really fit anyone in when we're sitting in the front so I don't even care about them. I should've convinced my dad getting me the 8 since we got the mazda3 hatch. Not too long after I got the 3, my bro got his 1st gen, and man! That car is so much fun to drive, it blows away my mazda3 even though it's not as bad as you think. I think I'd get an 8 instead of the FD, NA is easier to take care, and it's more reliable.

ive always thought of a 3rd gen.. im great with electronics, but not enough to keep up with wats goin on under the hood.. and for the price, id rather have a 2g TT. thatd make me a bit more happy.. and for the rx8 issue.. those do kick *** to drive.... i got my 80' becuz i was dating the owners daughter and he bought an RX8 (****** rich doctors) and said he needed to get rid of his 7 before he got it... i was there.. problem solved. but those 8's are amazingly fun to drive
