Its in a different place on later models. Very hard to see when carb is on the car. A flashlight can help. Did you download this manual http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/file...01979-1985.pdf

The carb manual covers all 1st gen carbs and there are some changes through the years. You just need to make sure that you're looking at the right model year for your car. You couldn't ask for a better pic than the one in the previous post.

Let us know if you get your buggy running properly. I am still looking for a first gen as a toy/project. I comb these threads every night to keep up with what you guys are doing and how to keep them running good!!!

yep the piture is perfect, went out and adjusted the idle down. I couldn't get below 1,000 rpm though.
I guess now I've got to track down a vacuum leak.
Thing is all the plugs and hoses look good.

a lot of times the dashpot will hang up causing a high idle. you may want to have a look at that and look at the base and see how far the white push rod is extended.

Timing will also affect idle speed, so it might be worth checking into...

Check for vacuum leaks, if none and you dont have to pass an emission test then remove all the emission stuff and leave it with the bare things and it will idle at around 700rpm, with no problem. remove the choke and all and to turn it on, just pump the accelerator 3 times and crank and it should crank right up.
