It could be that you have a minor vacuum leak, which is just enough to not make your car rev really high or die out.

+1.

Check for broken/removed vacuum lines.

Just making sure, you have a fire extinguisher with you right? And you are spraying with the engine on and in small doses right? Okay good.

Maybe it's just time to do a complete tune up. It could never hurt and plus you said you just got it. You never know when the previous owner changed the spark plugs, filters, etc.

Well honestly, I've never really heard anyone keeping their car on, in idle, for an hour straight. Wouldn't this mess up the internals a bit? I know warming up the car is good, but an hour seem like way too long.
Thafox, does it idle fine during your daily driving, for example at a stop sign/etc? If it is, I don't think you really have a problem.

Druken, why would you need a fire extinguisher? I sprayed the crap out of my engine, 2 cans of starter fluid, when I was having an idle problem. Not one flame. And, letting your engine idle for an hour won't do anything to the internals.

romelo, it's not the AFM. Did you check the FAQ's about the surging idle problem on GSL-SE's?

This could be either a clogged or faulty vacuum valve associated with the TPS. The valve controls the idle compensation system, and if it's leaking, you can have a minor fluctuation that should present itself as a rhythmic lope.

Romelo, give the FSM a try. It should also help you.

Or it could be that the fuel filter needs replacing.

A bad fuel filter wouldn't cause a fluctuating idle. It'd give poor accleration and fuel economy.

But, when you change out your fuel filter, tho, be sure to remove the rubber hose leading into the fuel pump and pull out the tiny cone screen filter. It'll be clogged with gunk.

Romelo, I've had my fair share of an idle problem on my GSL-SE. What RPM is the needle fluctuating to, back and forth, during idle?

Does the car stumble when you're decelerating while in gear?

You didn't answer my other question. In order for us to help you, you need to give us as much detailed information as possible. There's also a thread that focuses on that on the main page.

You simply have the idle mixture set incorrectly.
