Idle: 2K Power to 6k

Alright, i just got my car running, again for the third time. Now it has a weird idle porblem. It idles at 2k and burns gas like mad. Another problem is that when i try and drive it hard, i make power up until 6k, and then it completley and utterly falls off. Now i read some stuff here, and carbon build up might be a problem, but i would like to know for sure.

Thanks.

i would guess its a carb problem. check first for binding cables or linkages. after that, see if anyhting has obstructed your butterflies from closing properly. you also may want to look into a faulty dash pot or just plain sticky and gummed up linkages.

that would have helped in the first place, lol. perhaps check for vaccume leaks first off. you'll then need to see if your tps is in adjustment. next look into the bypass air control valve. it could be faulty, upping the idle, thinking it needs to compensate for a load on the engine. also you may want to change the fuel filter. that'll clog and the engine will stutter and won't like to rev smoothly.
