Hey yall thank you for reading this and any help you may have. I bought this 1985 Mazda rx7 it’s a slick top which I never knew existed but apparently they do. well I spent a good month redoing the rust on it to make it rust free and during that time I rebuilt the Nikki. Now for the first start she kicked right off and reved to 3000 rpm with a miss fire in there somewhere I tuned the rpm down thinking maybe I had screwed that part up but now the screws all the way out and the idles is sitting pretty at 1500. Below I’ll see if I can attach a video of it running the second rev up is where it backfires and I soiled my britches.

extra information: the belt for the ac is cut as is the belt for the air pump as it’s got an after market exhaust there’s not a vacuum plug in sight so my main thought is a vacuum leak I just don’t know where to start with vacuum leaks I smoke machined it and smoke is coming from under the carburetor where it connects to the intake and vacuum plate should I just delete the rats nest and redo the vacuum plate?

thanks for reading hope you didn’t have a stroke reading that as I’m currently typing this in a physics lecture and I shouldn’t be on my phone🫡🫡

Also she sat for 30 years so I wouldn’t be suprised if the engines just tired but it only has 75k on it so I’m hopeful atleast

Is that a fully warmed up engine? The idle goes down once it's warmed up.

i have had it fully warm and the smoke doesn’t go away the idle also lowers down to a point where it kills the engine
