I think i have serious steering problems!!???

today while i had the front of my car jacked up and was looking at the tires i relized that while the wheel was straight and the driver side tire was straight my passenger tire once being pushed or pulled could move as though the wheel was being turned but it wasnt..........i looked under the car and rod that runs under the car goes into a box or somthing.....and that is moving...??? i dont think it should move???

why would my passenger side wheel move (in the turning motion way) in and out about 10-20* ( a good amount) without the acuall steering wheel or driver side wheel moves.............

if the car is jacked up i can go turn the steering wheel to the left and then go make the passenger tire point to the right either or.....this cant be good and my tires i think are showing it....

geez if it's that bad you should hear all kinds of grinding and rattling noises from the front of your car... it would feel like the car is falling apart, hehe.

Go through all the linkages on the right hand side and compare movement at each joint to the left hand, stop when you see the right hand area that has more play than the left. Might be tie rod ends or idler arm bushings, who knows unless we get more info.

yea the tires that came with the car when i bought it years ago shredded off while i was driving one day and then my new tires (4months old) look really really bad.....the ousides of the tires are worn more then the inside (positive camber i gusse) and it looks like i have negative toe type wear on them also......

for more info....i dont know what else to say of the top of my head other then.....the car acts fine while driving and i have never noticed any turning problems..no clicking..weird feelings in the wheel while turning.nothing... i just had the car up in the air and was taking off the passenger wheel to look at how bad my tire looked and i relized i was able to move it without moving the whole steering system.................

from the tire wear it sounds like tie rod ends, check both inner and outer but outer are the usual suspects, your toe is constantly changing creating the wear, while in a steering in a straight line the fronts are toeing in more creating the uneven wear.
